Major hat tip to jamiedk for not only listening to Person on the radio but also taking notes and then taking the time to type them up. That or she has a great memory!!
Here's jamie's fanshot in it's entirety [numbering is mine]:
Here's an interview with Joe Person on WFNZ from Wednesday afternoon. A few highlights:
1- Says CJ is absolutely the #1 priority and that the team is ready to make him a very rich man, but that there's probably a 50-50 chance he'll be back. He said that if CJ isn't back with the Panthers, it won't be for lack of trying. He thinks that CJ may be the Falcons' first priority.
2- Says there's a 50-50 chance D-Will will be back.
3- Says Anderson and Davis are back.
4- It is unlikely that Steve Smith will be back, and they may go after someone along the lines of Braylon Edwards.
5- He doesn't think that Munnerlyn's an every-down CB, but he doesn't think the team will go for a big-name CB like the Bucs probably will.
6- He thinks last year was an outlier for Gamble - in part because of the issues between Gamble and Fox.
1 - Let's at least make the Falcons pay a butt ton for CJ, but I'm hopeful we can bring him back.
2 - I think it's less than 50/50 but that's just me
3 - Great news for us, not so great for Dan Conner being a starter.
4 - I agree Smitty is most likely gone but Braylon Edwards? If we lose out on CJ we should have the money to go after Santonio Holmes or Malcolm Floyd. Holmes already has a ring so going to a 'winner' might not be a perceived obstacle.
5 - Probably true...but hopefully we go after a big name DT to take some of the pressure off the secondary. I guess whether Richard Marshall returns (not) is no longer a question. If so we have to bring in a vet or take a pretty big Gamble with the secondary (and I'm not referring to Chris)
6 - Now speaking of Chris, I think there could be some truth to this. If there was only one player tired of Fox's MO it would have to be Gamble. Maybe his visit to the doghouse last season was justified but if so he should have had some company.
Thoughts my Panther faithful?
