Just when it seemed things were starting to look good we get this type of info that is in my view like "peeing in my proverbial Wheaties". The NFL has identified the absolute latest a CBA could be agreed to and still salvage a 2011 season would be early November:
Under the reported plan, the eight-game season would start in late November and culminate with the Super Bowl in Indianapolis Feb. 12. The NFL has previously cleared the way for the Super Bowl to be played as late as Feb. 12.
The league said it needs at least 3 weeks of pre-season prep to start a season which would then be 8 weeks long. So who wants to see an 8 game season that doesn't kick off until Thanksgiving? Suck it!...is my first thought. I can't fathom how pissed I would be a full 5 months from now. Also, that would result in a serious revenue loss for the season and certainly piss off a lot of fans and advertisers. Let's hope this is just what it is, a worst case and hopefully very unlikely scenario.
