Interesting stats on NFL Cornerback success

While the article is from Yahoo, the stats are from STATS Inc.  It's a break down of the best and worst corner based on the number of targets.  They call it....(insert announcer voice here) the Burn rate.  The rate is "the percentage of targets for every defender that resulted in catches with a minimum of 50 targets in 2010."  Read more after the jump.

Darrelle Revis, New York Jets: 33.9%, 19 burns on 56 targets, 340 yards, 4 TD, 10 passes defensed

Darelle had the best rate.  Nnamdi Asomugha and his 39.4 percent burn rate on 33 targets, so he doesn't count.  So why post this at all.  Because one of our very own is holds the worst burn rate in the NFL (2010 season of course):

Richard Marshall, Carolina Panthers: 71.3%, 72 burns on 101 targets, 765 yards, 5 TD, 7 passes defensed

Marshall's been doing the contract dance with the Panthers for a few years now, but his numbers just don't justify the inflated opinion. Carolina was horrid last year, but its front seven was surprisingly good, leaving most of the blame for these stats on the man himself.

Ouch.  Go here to read the full article.
