Panthers Stewart Ties for 19th in FO's Broken Tackle Stats

Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart tied for 19th on Football Outsiders Annual broken tackle assessment with 25 broken tackles in 2010. Here's the top 5:

45 - Arian foster - HOU

41 - Chris Johnson - TEN

38 - LeSean McCoy - PHI

38 -Ahmad Bradshaw - NYG

38 - Michael Turner - ATL

So that's pretty good company and gives a hint as to why Foster had such a monster year. Give J-Stew the rock as much as Foster and I'm sure he's top five in 2011. He's already said he's in the best shape of his professional life.

Of course who can forget this classic from 2008 (with appropriate music)...after the jump...

That just never gets old for me.

Looking further into the article they list the top 10 in highest and lowest percentage of broken tackles to carries and surprisingly there are 4 UNFA in the top five:

Yes, that's two undrafted rookies in our top three, and four undrafted players in our top five. That group of undrafted players is broken only by Marshawn Lynch, who apparently was already in Beast Mode before the playoffs even started.

Top 5: Ivory, Blount, Lynch, Woodhead & P Thomas (NO)

I guess that's the risk you take when placing the premium on speed over power.

Bottom 5 in % Broken tackles to carries: Forte, T Jones, S Greene, Gore, Green-Ellis

No shock in that group as all had pretty down years.
