Free Agents May Be More Expensive This Year

Stay connected for news and updates

Profootballtalk.com as an article today that the owners last CBA proposal contained a requirement that all teams must spend 90% of the new of the new salary cap in cash, no longer counting the "dead money" from past contracts to reach the salary cap floor.

This would force teams that have coasted along the bottom floor of the salary cap to suddenly spend at least 90% of the salary cap max, all in cash, with no 'dead money" past contract off sets. This should drive up veteran Free Agent prices across the boad.

In the long run this move would force teams to be more competive, by forcing all teams to spend within 90% of the max salary cap.
