Beason is scheduled to appear in court today dating back to an alleged 2009 attack.
Update: My apologies fro previously writing Beason won the case...I thought that was what he was saying in his tweet that I referenced but since I know the case is still on-going its obviously not over. My apologies for jumping the gun on that
=========
In November of 2009 Gregory Frye alleges that Carolina Panthers linebacker Jon Beason punched him in the face at the 'Uptown Cabaret' after he told Panthers' TE Dante Rosario that he saw Beason and an unnamed woman doing cocaine 'at the lake'. Beason was arrested at the scene, but quickly released after police said there was a lack of evidence to charge Beason with the crime.
Frye then turned to civil court and is now seeking damages as he claims he suffered a 'crushed nasal cavity' as well as a facial fracture. In turn, Beason is counter-suing for tarnishing his name and causing mental distress.
More after the jump
From what I can ascertain this was the first issue Beason has had, both in the NFL and during his tenure at Miami.
His accuser, however, has a history of legal issues including assault on a female, worthless check, aggressive driving, driving while license revoked, resisting a public officer, hit and run, driving while impaired and open container. This alone will likely make his character difficult to support in civil court, especially when police say there are no witnesses to the alleged assault, and they have had nobody come forward with any statement. This will purely be one man's word against the other.
We will follow this as it develops.
