Panthers to L.A.?
I had heard that Jerry Richardson was thinking of selling the team to a group of investors in L.A. This confirms my suspicions that Cam Newton was a play for the sale of the club, not the benefit of the club itself.
I hope I am wrong.

I doubt this will happen though (I hope)
California has too many sports teams anyway

I think the source
Is Albert Breer at profootballtalk.com.

This is a non-starter...
there is, and has never been, ANY indication given by management that the team is even remotely interested in a) selling or b) moving; the fact that they’re in the beginning stages of surveying for the possibility of a new stadium in Charlotte (looking forward 10-15 years) should be a better indication of their long term plans…..

CMS is preparing to RIF a huge percentage of the teaching force
With Wells moving many financing jobs out of statei, and including the Bobcats stadium (cannot host final 4) fiasco, and I doubt very much you will see a new stadium anytime soon in Charlotte.
It is what it is...
15 years is a long time lol
and LA is hardly a better spot at this juncture regardless; LA is a shit hole, through and through, and it’s going down fast (along with the state of CA in general)

JR will NEVER move the Panthers outside of the Carolinas. NEVER. this is another case of people outside this circle not knowing a damn thing about this franchise or its intentions

It is just a rumor. But it has stuck around for six months
It has legs now. Jerry has no succession plan. This is life. Never is a long time.
It is what it is...
rumor is your gullible

This team is worth over a Billion dollars has a very solid fan base and has had success since its inception. Could Carolina move sometime way way way into the future? always possible. But there are so many other candidates who need the move more and would benefit from it more then the panthers. NFL wouldn’t take a team out of a solid market only to leave a team in a bad one.

That is sound logic
I am from Seattle. The NBA’s Sonics had a similar position. If Jerry sells the team, the owner will decide what is next for the team. That is the unknown. What local group would buy the Panthers is the question to be answered.
It is what it is...
Jerry doesn’t want to sell the team. It is ranked #12 in forbes and he is already a billionaire with a fast food chain. He would sale Bo-jangles before he solod the Panthers.

You really think the NFL would appoint a Owner as there leader if he wasn’t committed to his own franchise? and yes nobody lives forever but to think the death of JR would mean the death of movement of the panthers is moronic. The man fired his own sons for the betterment of the franchise.

I think Jerry is committed to making money
And L.A. has more opportunity than Charlotte to make huge profits.
It is Jerry’s removal of his sons that makes for concern regarding succession. Statistics have shown that life expectancy at 10 years after transplant is 49%. I hope we see a swift denial from the Panthers on this front today.
The leadership aspect is a strong indicator for his involvement in the NFL, not his commitment to Charlotte.
It is what it is...
If you think a man born in North Carolina who has everything tied to here would relocate his already successful franchise your and idiot

Sorry, but that is complete and utter bullshit
The man fought tooth and nail for years, even invented the PSL system as a proof of concept that the NFL could be viable in the Carolinas.
He went the path least traveled and did absolutely everything he could to get a franchise in a non-traditional market because he was committed to the Charlotte area. The only reason he was awarded the franchise is because he was able to sell the NFL on the idea that he could maintain high ticket sales and avoid blackouts.
Thus far, in 16 years he’s done just that.
The fact he removed his sons IS REASON he has a commitment to the area. Mark and John were concerned with maximizing profits, not their father. One of the reasons he removed them from positions of power was due to a concern about the state of the organization should he die.
The man has done literally everything in the last 16 years to prove loyalty to the area. Including hiring Danny Morrison who he knew from Wofford to be team president, to have someone who understanding the Carolinas to head the team.
Furthermore, from Morrison himself they are beginning the process now to seek funding for a new stadium even though they feel BoA has 15-16 years of life left.
Finally, no… LA does not ‘have more opportunity to make profits’. That’s why two franchises have come and gone. The greater Los Angeles area cares about two things: The LA Lakers and the USC Trojans… NFL always played second fiddle, which is why it always failed.
Meanwhile, the Panthers are valued as one of the top 10 most valuable franchises according to Forbes. You don’t try and fix what isn’t broken.

LA is a big market yes, will they get SOME franchise? Yes. The Panthers before Jax or Buffalo or Min? No. Then we we also see how long the team makes it in LA after the stadium gets old again. A team will move to LA in the next 2 years. In 15 years or less the team will move again out of LA. James is right. LA is not a pro-football town.
How do you know?
I’m pretty sure an old owner with heart problems isn’t ignorant enough to not have a plan for the team after he passes.

Shut Up
Thanks for the fan shot about this, but shut the F*CK UP!!!!! You are defending it like you want it to happen. No true Panthers fan would be defending that argument like that! I bed your probably from LA aren’t you?
Yeah, something smells here on this.

Personally I feel this whole thing is crap
And any mention of relocating the Panthers is blasphemous.

This all comes
from the douche who wrote “enjoy that heart transplant Jerry” on the comments over at PFT. I don’t know what’s more ridiculous how you want us to believe this or that you expect us to believe you have a wife.
