Cam Newton to Participate in Player Organized Work Outs

Stay connected for news and updates

It's been previously reported that a few Panthers have been working out incognito in the Greensboro area over the last month or so. Today it was reported by Joe Person that a bigger gathering will begin next week and include rookie QB Cam Newton:

"When you're a rookie, especially as a quarterback, it's good to work on timing. But (it's) mainly getting around your teammates," Paige said. "I think Cam is excited about getting to know his teammates. Typically by now, he would know everybody."

The quote is from one of Newtons reps Tony Paige. The sessions will be held at Charlotte Christian and start June 1st. Newton's agent was quick to point out the one potential draw back:

Bus Cook, Newton's other agent, expressed concern about the risk of injury at the informal gatherings.

"I know it's non-contact and all that, but hypothetically if they get hurt - especially if it's season-ending or career-ending ... it could have a big impact," Cook said.

If Andrew Luck can get a $1.5M insurance policy for an entire college season certainly Cook can afford something similar for his prize rookie QB. I see nothing but positives from this Panther fans.
