I was reading a Car and Driver article on some of the muscle cars in competition with eachother such as Challenger vs. Camaro vs. Mustang, and I keep seeing the same stats for each vehicle. 0-60 time, weight, wheelbase, horsepower, etc. So for some strange reason I put the comparison together between muscle cars, and quarterbacks.. and here's what I came up with when you compare our Cam Newton to some of the recent Super Bowl winning quarterbacks of recent years..
| Name | Height | Weight | 40 | Bench reps | Wonderlic | Vertical |
| Cam Newton | 6'5 | 248 | 4.59 | DNP | 21 | 35 |
| Peyton Manning | 6'5 | 230 | 4.8 | DNP | 28 | DNP |
| Aaron Rodgers | 6'2 | 225 | 4.71 | DNP | 35 | 34.5 |
| Drew Brees | 6'0 | 209 | 4.83 | DNP | 34 | 32 |
| Tom Brady | 6'4 | 225 | 5.23 | DNP | 33 | DNP |
As far as size goes, Newt ties for 1st place with Manning in the Height, but has him by 18lbs in Weight, which can be the difference between a sack and a broken tackle.
Speed, again goes to Newton with about 2/10 of a second in from of the next QB
Vertical, Again Mr. Newton takes the cake with the highest vertical.. Not a crucial stat for QB's but could be the difference in a goalline sneak..
The knock, (because we all know that every great "car" has one downside..) the wonderlic was last in its class.. Decision making is key at the QB position, and Newton can only rely on his physical superiority for so long before he is forced to make an "educated" decision..
Hope you enjoyed this useless comparison of humans to vehicles... Hoping for a great 2011!!
