According to Joe Person via Twitter the Judge in Jon Beason's assault trial has ruled in favor of the Carolina Panthers linebacker awarding Gregory Frye no damages and awarding Beason $1 for slander, the amount the player asked for.
For Beason this was more about making a point than the rich getting richer, hence the request for $1 in damages in his counter-suit. So, since this has now been settled in court we can safely chalk this one up as another money hungry Joe-Nobody looking for both 15 minutes of fame and a fat check.
Darin Gantt gave his opinion too saying:
"If I know anything about Jon Beason, that dollar he was just awarded in court is getting framed, and soon."
This always seemed out of character for Beason, who despite having a less than desirable rap song, has no history of any off field issues. This ruling preserves the character of the Panthers' captain and allows him to return to his primary focus- football.
