There was a article I found about the Panthers number 1 pick I found interesting. Essentially it says Rivera and Hurney want Cam Newton, but that JR isn't sold on him. The other part of the story is about the panthers trading Back to take AJ Green. Then goes on to debate who would throw the ball to him and how the Falcons, Saints, and Bucs all have solid starting qb's. I'm not sure how reliable this article is, but it is two guys that everyone here has talked about wanting at some point. When we got the first pick everyone talked about Green, as time progressed many wanted Newton. There are those that didn't want either, but of those two which would be better for the team. More after jump.
Newton gives a fresh start at qb and allows competition for Clausen. Grant it New ton most likely will need to sit for a while to learn the NFL game. His ceiling is huge and could be the next "great" thing according to reports. A sort of Freeman type guy with a higher ceiling. With Green, he is according to most, Moss like and a once in a decade prospect. He would most likely be a instant starter and take pressure off of Smith. He could also be the replacement if Smith leaves or when Smith retires. It's also been said that Clausen was able to improve at ND because he had Tate, Rudolph, and other talent to help him. He would now have Green, Smith, Shockey, and Gettis to throw to, and if blocking improves time to do so. It sounds plausible either way really. I'll link the article for you to check it out.
Hopefully it doesn't turn into a flame war, although I did ask for opinions.
