Jon Beason channels bad ranking, rather than fighting it

Stay connected for news and updates

In an era where players complaining about their Madden rating has become a yearly occurance, Carolina Panthers linebacker Jon Beason won't get mired in such better things. Instead, he'll be fighting to get better- at least that's his tone from his twitter account.

So when ESPN continue their positional power rankings and rate Beason as the 9th best linebacker in the NFL, behind fellow MLB/ILB Patrick Willis, Ray Lewis and Brian Urlacher, on would think Beason would be angry... but really, that's not Beast's style, this from his Twitter account this morning:

"They ask me if I think I've arrived? I always say, the day I do is the day I stop getting better. I don't like to read into who has the hype. Who's considered the best.... Bc I realize they're just enough doubters I have to prove wrong. Espn has me ranked 9th in the league. They ask me if I think I've arrived? I always say, the day I do is the day I stop getting better. Appreciate you espn... You make it easy to get up and do it again and again. You just added fuel to the fire."

It's statements like this that make me know the Carolina Panthers will be fine. Beason leads this team, everyone looks to him for guidance and if he can instill this same attitude in a Cam Newton, Blaine Gabbert or whoever the team ends up drafting then we will be in good shape.
