Hello Panthers fans. Its DT3428 here and with all the news and speculation around who is going to be picked I just wanted to share my own personal mock draft on who I think the top 10 teams will pick in this years draft. I want to just go ahead and say I have put together my own Big Board based off my own beliefs regarding each individual prospect. I will be sharing my own personal big board and mock draft after the jump.
My 2011 NFL prospect Big Board
1. CB Patrick Peterson LSU
2. WR AJ Green Georgia
3. QB Cam Newton Auburn
4. LB Von Miller Texas A&M
4. DE Robert Quinn North Carolina
5. DT Marceus Dareus Alabama
6. DT Nick Fairley Auburn
7. CB Prince Amukamara Nebraska
8. DE Da'Quan Bowers Clemson
9. RB Mark Ingram Alabama
10. DE Ryan Kerrigan Purdue
11. WR Julio Jones Alabama
12. DL Cameron Jordan California
13. DE J.J. Watt Wisconsin
14. DE Adrian Clayborn Iowa
15. QB Jake Locker Washington
And... Heres my ranking as far as QB goes
1. Cam Newton
2. Jake Locker
3. Ryan Mallett
T4. Blaine Gabbert
T4. Christian Ponder
DT3428's 2011 Top Ten Mock Draft.
1st Pick Carolina Panthers select: Auburn QB Cam Newton
Reason: The Panthers most desperate need is for a QB in this anemic offense. Newton fits the profile because of his play making ability and arm strength. This is a QB driven league and Ron Rivera knows that.
2nd Pick Denver Broncos select: Clemson DE Da'Quan Bowers
Reason: There's not any other position that John Fox values more than his DL and we know this. I see John Fox starting with a fresh DE in Bowers to compliment Elvis Dumervil if he recovers from last years season ending pec injury.
3rd Pick Buffalo Bills select: Alabama NT Marceus Dareus
Reason: The Bills need major help in with there rush defense and Dareus fits the bill perfectly. He is a dominating NT and will surely help the Bills stop the run in 2010
4th Pick Cincinnati Bengals select: Missouri QB Blaine Gabbert
Even though I don't have Gabbert ranked in my top 15, I see the Bengals getting desperate with this pick as they take Blaine Gabbert. Right now as it seems Carson Palmer has 80 mill in the bank and is sticking to his guns about not playing for the Bengals again. Can the Bengals risk going into the 2011 season with no QB?
5th Pick Arizona Cardinals select: Texas AM LB Von Miller
The Cardinals also need to upgrade their pass rush. Von Miller would be a perfect fit as he has already played 3-4 Linebacker at Texas A&M and should have no problems adjusting to the NFL scheme. He and Joey Porter should make a nice combination coming off the edge in Arizona.
6th Pick Cleveland Browns select: Georgia WR AJ Green
Lets be clear here for a second. Even though AJ Green put up mediocre numbers at the combine he is still a playmaker at WR. The Browns are in desperate need of a threat at WR and Green should be a nice toy for Colt McCoy to throw to.
7th Pick San Francisco 49er's select: LSU CB Patrick Peterson
Even though the 49er's have serious questions at QB, there is currently no one worth taking with the 7th pick. Peterson and Clements locking down NFL receivers will do wonders for this team.
8th Pick Tenessee Titans select: Auburn DT Nick Fairley
The Titans really need to get back great defense they had a couple of seasons ago when they had Albert Haynesworth and that starts up front in the middle. The Titans need a run stopper on defense and Fairley will do nicely.
9th Pick Dallas Cowboys select: Nebraska CB Prince Amukamara
Reason: The #1 whole in the Dallas Cowboys is CB and lack of depth at the position. It seems like they have all the pieces to be a great team but CB(and other minor problems)are hindering them from reaching that greatness. Dallas needs secondary help and Amukamara provides that help.
10th Pick Washington Redskins select: Alabama WR Julio Jones
Reason: I don't any team in the league(besides the Rams) that needs more WR help than the Redskins. With the MONSTEROUS combine Jones , had the Redskins shouldn't hesitate to take him. Jones will provide that deep threat that the Redskins need down field. Now all they need is someone to throw it to him...
So there you go CSR here is my first mock draft. Does it suck? Was I spot on with my Big Board/Predictions? Be sure to let me know what you think.
