I decided to compose a big board to supplement the numerous mock drafts going on and discussed on CSR. The CSR Composite Big Board will be an average of several Big Boards that rank players by ability versus draft pick.
I think this is more useful for a team like the Panthers with the #1 number pick than a composite of mock drafts. The mocks are swayed by the perceived Panther needs, something that I think comes into play less with the Panthers than most teams. I see Panther GM Marty Hurney deploying a BPA strategy and here's why:
Once the CBA is complete next Friday (I saw it in a dream) I fully expect to see an active Panthers team in free agency (Same dream). JR will be inclined to spend some money after scoring a big victory for the owners with the new CBA. So once our needs are addressed there's less pressure on the draft to fill certain positions. That allows Hurney to go for the best player in the draft. Given the pressure on Hurney to draft an impact player he will not want to be limited to choosing from certain positions.
So read the poll question carefully as I am asking who you think the Panthers will select at #1, not who you hope they will select. Do you agree they will use a BPA strategy or will they draft for need?
The CSR Composite Big Board and its results can be found... after the jump.
So do the results surprise you? By the way, if you have another big board to add to the composite score please put a link in the comment thread:

Where there are blanks I did not have access to the ranking for that player for that analyst.
So was your pick filling a need or was it your best player on the board?
