If the Panthers wanted to, we could easily build a great roster for this on coming season. I know Jerry was reluctant to spend with Foxy at the helm and the uncertainty of him returning. But now we have a new stern but player friendly coach in RIvera and I hope the Big Cat can loosen the reigns a little.
Now i cant stand when people get on here fantisizing and saying, well if we trade #1 and get 10 #2's and sign him, and trade for Manning, and Fitz, and somehow get Montana to un-retire...so dumb......So this is what could be fesible and possibly happen just as the Shockey signing did. First I say we pursue Tommie Harris, has a great track record with Rivera and was a monster when Ron was there. He fell off after he left because the D changed a little, they stayed in a cover 2 base but instead of Harris lining up and playing over the guard, Harris was almost used as a 4-3 nose tackle to take up blocks and was constantly double/tripled, but he would fit great in our system and Rivera know how to get the best out of him.
At guard I think we should go after Davin Joseph but that is just a want and realistically think we could get Robert Gallery. Hes a mean run blocker, granted he was a bust at LT, he has been a probowler at guard and we need brusiers up front. This would allow Duke Robinson to sit for another year and then evaluate gallery/wharton or just keep Robinson as insurance with our bad luck with health issues on the o-line.
Then our biggest concerns are somewhat taken care of.......Im hearing rumors of us trying to trade for Carson, but who knows, we def need a vet. Matt Moore doesnt have the xp to train Jimmy or any rookie we bring in. That didnt make a whole lotta sense last year, not all Jimmy's fault.
After addressing these positions take the BPA, and we know the DTs are good and both have plenty of potential but Peterson from LSU at CB is def the best BPA, maybe a tie with AJ Green but our young WRs are descent and if the ball is delvered on time and accurate i truley think LaFell has a huge upside.
So we sign all our own back, D will, JA, Johnson, etc. we could actually have a very young/strong D and only real question (as long as the o-line gets back to its old self, with addition of Otah, and double trouble stay healthy) is still at QB, but atleast we would have the chance to grow and see improvement.
