According to a report by Pro Football Talk free agent veteran TE Jeremy Shockey will decide to sign with the Carolina Panthers or Miami Dolphins today, although the terms of either contract have not been divulged.
I drew my line in the sand early on this one, I think it would be a very smart move on a short term deal. Don't get me wrong, I still think the guy has a pretty bad attitude- but at least some of those fears have been allayed after talking to Saints fans who said he was a model citizen (for the most part) during his time in New Orleans. Despite injuries and what looks like declining play there's little argument that Shockey is still better than anyone currently on the roster, and no argument that he's proven his abilities.
Carolina offers several perks that can't be matched in Miami- namely partnering with Rob Chudzinski who developed him at the University of Miami, and playing time as Shockey would likely start in Carolina and play second string in Miami. However, Shockey has referred to playing in Miami again as 'a dream'.
When Shockey decides we'll have it here on CSR.
