With the bears releasing Tommie Harris and Ron Rivera having a connection with him from when he was coaching there, what are the chances we sign him? He's a 27 year old, pro bowler with great skill and experience. He would be pricey (probably around 8 to 10 million a year) but hopefully having Rivera and the fact that he has had some character issues (punching faces) could increase our chances of signing him.
It would fill a huge need we have in the middle of our D and would open up other possibilities with that number 1 pick in the draft. Working him in with Nick Hayden, Derek Landri, Ed Johnson, Corvey Irvin and a later round pick would help our run defense immensely and improve our pass rush without having to gamble on Fairley or Dareus. Although he did have a down year in 2010 I think he would definitely improve our defense immediately.
