The ABSOLUTE best display of QB accuracy I have ever seen in my life

Normally, this would be fanshot material... but I was so amazed by the accuracy in the arm of this kid, I had to make it a Fanpost to make sure everyone sees this video.

This is Uconn 3rd string QB Johnny McEntee doing some amazing "trick shots" with his arm. Some of the throws he makes are just incredible, and he clearly has some strength in that arm given the distances. I don't understand why he isn't on the field for Uconn, although I'm sure it is possible all this talent doesn't necessarily transfer to good on-field play.

Johnny Mac Trick Shot Quarterback (via HardcoreHuskies)

Pretty amazing, right?

Editor's note: This really is a pretty amazing video. It's a curiosity like an amazing street baller dunking, doesn't necessarily transfer... but there's no reason not to be impressed with the display of accuracy. I deleted some posts to clean up the sidebars. Thanks for posting everyone!

Holy Crap

Either accuracy is the only thing he’s got, or UCONN’s coach is a moron. Otherwise, I can’t fathom why he’s the 3rd string QB. This video is awesome.

If he knows the playbook. If he isn’t dumb. Or he may just suck under pressure.

Uncanny!

His accuracy is literally flawless, so there must be some polarizing aspect of his game that drags his overall value down. If I had to wager a guess, I’d say that he crumbles beneath even the slightest amount of pressure, even if it is only perceived (i.e. when a defense shows a heavy blitz).

I’d love to see him in actual game footage, but the only thing I can find is this same trick shot video.

While I LOVE the video...

I think you’ve got to remember that this is a edited video. Just like all trick shot videos, the trick shot is probably 1 of hundreds or thousands of attempts. This entire video probably took Johnny Mac a month to do. The last Basketball shot from the 2nd level alone probably would have taken days to capture. Nonetheless, it’s pretty amazing. Too bad he doesn’t have a complete game, being that he’s a third stringer!

by jkp1516 on Feb 9, 2011 3:08 PM EST reply actions

Yeah absolutely.

We are definitely seeing some edited footage in a lot of cases. But the fact it is even possible for him is impressive.

True. It is still amazing though. I could never come that close to any of those shots. Edited or not, it is hella impressive.

THink this guy is gonna be an awesome halftime show

But looks like he’s a guy who can throw a football, not a QB.

This made me think of the scene in the movie Glory

Where the one guy is a good shot and then the colonel starts shooting while he tries more marksmanship. The guy fails utterly. Purely speculation, but perhaps he’s not as good under duress.

Great video though!

Crazy.

Aside from the already pointed out bits about facing pressure and edited footage, he doesn’t look that strong physically. His legs are a little stickly, and I didn’t notice much musculature.

Reading comprehension is the first stage of reading. the second stage is reading into things. any plebeian can clearly see there was nothing I said that was deserving of your overly callous response. Perhaps you speak with that lingo, but i and most mature men don’t. clearly you have made a judgement of who you think I am, and you refuse to admit it.

The video is fake, the point of the video wasn’t that it was "cool but that it was a showing of “accuracy”. You clearly missed that part professor bwsmith25. Then to compound matters, you take the extra step to suggest perhaps he should be starting, which means you see an importance in what you’ve gathered in the video. That is what I’m disputing. his accuracy is likely NO WHERE near this, but if people are to believe you, a video like this shows accuracy and proficiency, which is far from the truth.

Obviously you don’t know me very well, because I think I’ve made it clear with my comments and articles on this site that I don’t use terms such as “OMGZ, LOLZ, etc.” in my daily lexicon unless I’m using them in a direct quote or in a sarcastic manner.

Also, you should probably fix your sarcasm detector. My “overly callous” remark was actually tongue in cheek, but apparently that was lost in translation. For that, I apologize. I should have been more clear with a “/sarcasm” at the end of it. I sincerely wasn’t hunting you down just to disagree with you. With all due respect, you’re simply not worth my time for me to do that to you. And, FWIW, I’ve not made any judgments of you.

Re: my comments on him being a starter, I said that apparently the only skill he possesses is accuracy, or his coach is a moron for keeping him at 3rd string. Clearly, if he is truly that accurate, then he isn’t good at anything else that is required to play the QB position, or he would have been the starter at UCONN because if he has a scintilla of pocket awareness or mobility then there’s no reason he wouldn’t be the starter. Apparently, he’s just a kid with a weird ability to throw a football into a trash can from 30 yards away, and he’s not really an athlete or a quarterback.

And, how do you know the video is fake? The kid really could have those amazing skills of accuracy. Obviously he didn’t get all of them on the first try, but I do believe (until it’s proven otherwise) that the video is real.

I really don’t see why you’re making such a huge deal out of this, but to each his own.

And finally, one last thing: professor bwsmith25…that’s cute, I think I’ll use that in the future.

Yeah, it's probably more video tricks than trick throws.

Even if it is real, I’ve made a ton of trick basketball shots in my day, but it may have taken me a hundred times to do it. Third string quarterbacks obviously have too much time on their hands. I guess the dude has given up trying to improve his knowledge of the play book and opposing defenses, and is now training for his degree in film and/or computers. I will say, though, it’s a fun video for entertainment purposes; nicely edited.
