We at CSR leave no stone unturned and will gladly report on the seemingly irrelevant staff hires. Is it really an insignificant hire? The Panthers could probably use a refocusing of its strengthening and conditioning program (Paging Duke Robinson!).
Hat tip to CSR member TotalScholar for posting this via fanshot:
Per Darin Gantt - "Panthers hire strength coach. Staff nearly complete. Apparently, no one calls new strength coach Joe Kenn by name. Either call him House, or Big House. Those are good nicknames for coaches."
I for one think its a great hire. He is very well known and well respected in the athletic training community. Check out his website here. What do you guys think?
What a great nickname for a strength coach. He sounds like another good addition at this point.
James Edit: I talked to several people around the Greensboro area who have worked/seen Kenn in action over at Ricky Proehl's 'Proehlific Park' complex. They told me he's a drill instructor type trainer who is an absolute stickler for form and always barking out orders at people who are lifting under his supervision. The below photo of Tony Pike is apt, the days of his noodle arms are over. Former clients he's worked with privately have included Terrell Suggs and Steve Smith; both guys who play bigger than they are and known for their strength. Seems like a good fit to me!
