Panthers Hire former UGA Assistant to Coach LBs
The Panthers have reportedly filled yet another assistant coaching position, this time hiring Bulldogs inside LB coach Warren Belin to coach LBs at the NFL level.
Carolina has an opening for a linebackers coach on the staff of new head coach Ron Rivera. The Panthers’ new defensive coordinator is Sean McDermott, who worked with Belin in 1998 on the William & Mary staff.
Belin, 43, is a native of Marshville, N.C., and played at Wake Forest. He was hired at Georgia last year after spending eight years at Vanderbilt as a linebackers coach.
I'm going to resist the massive urge to 'Dawg' this selection given my well known bias against the Bullpups! If anyine else has some input on this hire chime on in. I will say the Bulldogs have put out some good LBs in their day, most recently Rennie Curran, Odell Thurman and Boss Bailey. I probably include Thomas Davis on the list though he played FS at UGA. Obviously Belin didn't have anything to do with these players since he was only there one year. Maybe it rubbed off on him.

Says he was at Georgia one year so you’d have to look at Vanderbilt and the linebackers he worked with there.

He may not have put too many guys in the NFL, but he has had successful college players.

Sorry to upset you SEC Alums..and James.....
because he seems to attack everything that i post……Nevertheless, I was really hoping that we were holding out for K. Greene’s return to the Queen City…I find this news a little disappointing.

I looked through your entire posting history. Of those 12 comments only one have I ever responded to one comment in any capacity; this one regarding Charlotte and the Superbowl.
If disagreeing with one of your twelve posts (or 8.3% of your comments) constitutes ‘attacking everything you post’ I don’t know what to say. If you have a problem with me then click on my name and shoot me an email, lets hash it out; but if you want to make up stories then I suggest you take a creative writing class.

I’ll be the first to admit that oftentimes I can be harsh or abrasive in my comments, I’m aware of my shortcomings in this regard and am actively working to engage in less ‘pissing matches’ as it were, and more constructive conversation; I might add I think I’ve done a pretty good job thus far.
However, when someone makes an absolutely spurious claim that I ‘attack’ everything they say then they better have the proof to back up that claim, because I will research it, even if they wont.
Just rubbed me the wrong was as there was absolutely no call for it in the first place.

Not a problem with that.
And I might add I don’t usually find you to be abrasive. And that’s for your entire tenure here. Hard to believe, but I was actually here first, so I’ve seen it all. :)

It fits the overall strategy of going for "young and energetic" that they seem to be pursuing...
but yes, I held out a slimmer of hope that we might be able to bring Greene back to charlotte; realistically though, that was always going to be a long shot.
Kevin Greene is in a great situation... little incentive to lure him here for a lateral move
My guess is Greene will want a little more experience with the Packers and try to move up the defensive ranks.
I don’t think there’s any reason to be disappointed with this hire. We know very little about this guy. So I’m really indifferent to the hire. I think our linebackers are good enough that they could almost teach themselves to be honest…

I know Rivera won't be working directly with the LBs much
but I do trust that he brought in a guy he feels would be a great LB coach. I just can’t see him bringing in below average talent to coach the position he knows best.
