Darin Gantt is reporting this morning via Twitter that the Panthers will place Restricted Free Agent tags on RB DeAngelo Williams and DE Charles Johnson. I believe the RFA tag allows the players to entertain offers from other teams but gives the Panthers the right to match. If signed by the other team the Panthers get a draft pick from the other team based on the type of RFA.
Wrote for this morning's paper that Panthers will place RFA tenders on DeAngelo Williams, Charles Johnson, more. Should be on website soon.
More to come later from the Panthers I'm sure...but I'm relieved honestly. Makes me feel better about these guys staying and that the Panthers are willing to pay them. Big Cat knows what he is doing...
Adam Schefter is suggesting the RFA is being used as a weapon by the owners to gain leverage...might it work?
Get ready for all teams to use RFA tenders as weapons. @daringantt reports Panthers will place tenders on DeAngelo Williams, Charles Johnson
If they are 1st round tenders then I can't imagine they will be too unhappy about it...I might be missing something in this but I don't see how the RFA is really restricting anything at the moment.
Hat tip to ALAC for being the first to post the news on CSR via Fanshot.
