Marcus Stroud released by Bills
Marcus Stroud's name was once synonymous with run-stopping from the DT position. Since leaving Jacksonville for a bigger paycheck, Stroud has shed 40 pounds to play DE in their 3-4 defense.
Before the Bills switched to a 3-4, during his first season in Buffalo, Stroud was an early defensive MVP candidate, helping their run-defense improve from dead last to 9th, until a late-season collapse dropped them to 20th.
Stroud will likely try to get back to 310-320lbs before next season, (he played at 330+ in JAX) in hopes of signing with a team running a 4-3--a scheme in which he was far more effective.
Do the Panthers show any interest in one of the better interior defensive lineman available? They did not so much as kick the tires on Shaun Rodgers, but Stroud does not have the same baggage.
At some point the Panthers will have to stop treating free agents like venereal diseases.

Well here is a NT to pair with Fairley, that doesn't bring guns on planes.
Do want.

I think if this were any other year
we would be banging down his door. But with the whole CBA thing, I doubt we’ll see any interest in any FA until after a deal gets done. The only interest I heard about in Rogers was from Washington, and we all know about Dan Snyder. He’s a big reason we’re in this mess.

While I agree that the CBA is a four-foot thick steel wall when it comes to FAs...
Rodgers visited KC on Tuesday and is on his way to NO.
Let me hold about tree-fiddy?
I would check him out
But after getting out of JAX and BUF he probably wants a contender, I think it would take a lot of money to get him here.

You are probably right
If he can get back to 315 (with good weight, not just eating ho-hos) then he has more to bargain with. He looked too light playing DE in that 3-4 last season. He was getting pushed around by OGs, but they guy got down to 280.
Let me hold about tree-fiddy?
The thing that sucks
Is someone will pick up Rogers or Stroud before March 4th potentially. And if we were to sign one of them before our own FAs it would send a horrible message to them.

i noticed this earlier
he would be a good veteran presence thats not a top caliber free agent. i dont see any harm in giving him a shot
it just occured to me
that what if we only add one DT to our team. Rivera has already stated that hes interted in Ed johnson. we have a reliable backup in landri, if johnson starts, and abunch of young guys to develop. what do you guys think?
Ed Johnson had a entire season to prove he's a starter.
He failed to do so. No, I think we need two starters at that position…let Landri play goalline and dime.
Let me hold about tree-fiddy?
Let Hayden and Johnson fight for the last spot.

This is one we shouldn't let get away, at least not without trying.

Andre Neblett - "Give This Guy More Snaps" (PFF)
http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2011/02/15/2010-movers-and-fallers-nfc-south/
“Give This Guy More Snaps: DT Andre Neblett (+3.9 in 152 snaps)
Carolina went into the year with a shortage of defensive tackles and as the year wore on that meant that Neblett got some playing time. The big rookie had some bad moments (giving up an offside penalty in his first snap versus Atlanta in Week 17) but looked like a run stuffer with some sizeable (pun intended) potential. If you don’t believe us, watch him go one-on-one versus Maurkice Pouncey or Todd McClure, and how many times Neblett he was able to collapse a running lane."
I’ve been saying since the first game he got into, that he’d outplayed Hayden, time and time again.
It's not hard to outplay Nick Hayden.....
But I do agree, this guy should be given some more PT next year.
