Is Dan Connor the Panthers' most interesting man?
Aside from 'southtunnel's amazing photoshop job on Ron Rivera I've come to a conclusion that the most intersting man on the Carolina Panthers is third year linebacker Dan Connor. The former standout at Penn State is a former Chuck Bednarik award winner, a former senior bowl MVP... and an All Pro ham based on his Twitter, but we'll get to that later.
Dan Connor 'arrived' last season as he recorded 47 tackles and 1 sack in 8 starts at MLB (really 7 as he was injured early in week eight) before being placed on IR. While it appeared Jon Beason's performance dropped as he moved to LOLB in place of the injured Thomas Davis is was Connor who reaped many of the dividends. He had great 13 tackle and 11 tackle games against the New York Giants and Chicago Bears respectively and Connor finally proved that he is ready to take the next step in his NFL career as he adds to the embarrassment of riches at the LB position.
I'll be the first to admit that I'm not really sure where Dan Connor fits into the puzzle which is the Carolina Panthers. With Thomas Davis likely returning, and James Anderson having an amazing season the free agency period this year will dictate what the future holds for Connor. If money is committed to both Davis and Anderson it's likely a sign that Connor doesn't fit into the future plans of the organization, and could potentially be traded. I was in two minds about potentially trading him; on the one hand I thought it made sense for both the Panthers and Connor- giving him an opportunity to start elsewhere... but after reading his Twitter I'm convinced we can't let him go (man crush rising).
After the jump we'll look at some of Dan Connor's Tweets over the last month since he joined Twitter, and maybe you'll realize why I think he's the Panthers' most interesting man.
If you want to follow Connor his username is @DanConnor55 I promise you, you wont regret it.
First, a question from a fan:
@BradWesley8 :Hey Dan, I was wondering about your taste in music. What are you into? Do you ever listen to old stuff like Eddie Money?
Dan Connor
Yo @BradWesley8 Yea, I usually stick to the normal classics like Color me Badd, LFO, S Club 7, Richard Marx, and of course Rick Astley
It took a couple more weeks for Connor to become comfortable enough on Twitter, but when it arrived...
@ChristoG03 :What gets you pumped before a big game? or before you're about to cook a big meal?
Dan Connor
@ChristoG03 Before any big event, I like to sprout mung beans. They have a distinct old man smell which I later cloak myself in to prepare. If you're like me, you need to be at your best every day. That's why I start each day with a bag of little chocolate donuts...
Dan Connor
With a lockout looming, I'm rethinking having sent my signing bonus to the son of the deposed king of Nigeria. But his email was desperate.
Dan Connor
I think Janice Dickinson has been a great addition as an American Idol judge.....wait.... that's Steven Tyler.....
Dan Connor
If I dont spend the night sittin in my tighty whities and drinkin, then I'm lettin the terrorists win, and I cant have that on my conscience
Dan Connor
People ask me if real NFL parties are like the ones in Any Given Sunday and I tell them from up in a tree across the street it sure looks it
Do yourself a favor- if you're on Twitter go ahead and follow Dan Connor. Because he could be the Carolina Panthers' most interesting man.

Man, guy is a natural comedian
That’s some good stuff! I think “Dan’s Tweet of the Week” should be a weekly column if he keeps it up.

Done and done
Maybe we;ll do a ‘tweet of the week’ between Dan, Jimmy, LaFell, Sutton, Goodson, J-Stew and we;ll vote on it!
Follow me on Twitter! @James_Dator
I like it!
I don’t tweet, but it would be nice to see a rundown of most humorous tweets from all of your player and reporter sources. I’d let the sarcasm of Gantt compete in this little competition as well.

Been following him for a couple of weeks now
Yeah, Thomas Davis has got to go. Football is about entertainment and this guy brings the A game on and off the field.
Connor, Gantt, and LaFell are the only reason I use Twitter.

What about Jimmy and his tweets?
Those are little nuggets of twitter gold. (I jest.)

Haven't checked The Jimmy yet
I’ve read a few and they have been amusing, but between Conner and LaFell he has some serious competition for my attention.
A few TD passes wouldn’t hut his odds.

Maybe he should have asked Beast.
He could have asked Gross, but that guy is always too early.

I'm thinking Connor took too long to get on Twitter...
He could have been giving us some much needed entertainment through the whole 2010 season. =)
totally agree
