CSR Monday Night Football Open Thread

TAMPA, FL - DECEMBER 4: Quarterback Cam Newton #1 of the Carolina Panthers celebrates on the bench during a game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers December 4, 2011 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. (Photo by Al Messerschmidt/Getty Images)

We've got the Chargers at the Jaguars tonight in a game that...WAIT! The Jags have a MNF home game? By God I'm calling it now...The Panthers better have a MNF home game next year!...my preference would be Falcons vs. Panthers at the BoA! Big Cat make it happen (pull the pacemaker excuse if you have to).

Tonight's game features two teams having disappointing seasons. The Jags (3-8) already fired their coach and the Chargers (4-7) are rumored to be headed that way as well. I imagine fantasy implications might keep some of you tuned in. Otherwise let's just talk about the Panthers:

  • We need a nickname for DE Thomas Keiser
  • How about the double pass back to Newton? I'm still geeking on that one.
  • Or Stewart trucking Tanard Jackson on that first drive?
  • Who's arm is that Cam is hugging?
  • or...you get the point (I could get used to winning real quick)
This is Now an Open MNF thread!

I need Vincent Jackson to not get over 12 points to win my CSR league this week.

It all comes down to this 1 player, If he makes 13 I lose. In the nfl league I am in, I am still facing that same 1 player, but I have a 39 point lead in that 1. If I win the CSR game, I will have 4 wins, same as the Panthers. If I win the nfl game, I have 10 wins.

I would like to make a suggestion for keiser’s nickname. Keiser is actually a german word and it means…. Emperor!! Admitted ‘the emperor’ is a little grandiose at this stage of his career when he only has 3 sacks and an INT but I’m just saying… That’s what his name means :)

I am fairly certain the Jags got two MNF games because of their attendance problems

I think the League decided to help Jax out by giving the team two prime time slots in hopes that those games would generate interest in the team. Doesn’t seem to be working, but I give the NFL credit for trying. The Jags beast Baltimore the last time they were on MNF.

The team as a whole is a little like like the 2010 panthers.

Good rb(s), newly drafted qb not living up to expectations, defense doing well but offense not. And their coaching situation is somewhat similar but theirs got fired at an earlier time.

Also, they have Ta’amu falling all the way to #41 and have Burfict falling into the 2nd round. That’s put us in a very interesting spot if they were both on the board when our second pick came up.

If Lynch manages to give us one of those legendary runs where he breaks one million tackles, it might just be worth it.

Naaaaah.

ACC Championship Member Brandon Thompson is the new Jacoby Ford. You better pick him Panthers or you will be doomed to relive the 2010 season over and over again in the Twilight Zone.

Clemson 2011 ACC Champions! Look forward to doing it again next year! :D

Oh yeah...forgot about the 7-9 "Juggernauts" that were the NFC West Champion Seahawks.

Then again, they did eliminate the Saints…

Newton for '11 ROY!
Walker for '11 ROY! (or least some really awesome Under Armour commercials)
FREE BIYOMBO! (I'm looking at you, Fuenlabrada)

keiser nick name

I like the blitzkrieg, but I liked the nick name Eugene Robinson said on the radio during the game “The Professor” since he went to Stanford.

Gabbert played well in the 1st half, sucked

ass in the 2nd half. Has no pocket presence once so ever, should have stayed in college for another year to me. He’s in a bad situation similar to Clausen with a lame duck coach, a staff who can’t develop Qb’s etc. I’m wondering what happens if the new coach doesn’t see gabbert as a franchise Qb and wants since own Qb in 2012 to lead the team similar to Ron R? Best of luck to him in the near future. Jags fans( not all of them) are sure are throwing him under the bus how he’s the worst rookie starting Qb ever etc.
