We need to trade up for Morris Claiborne.

After thinking about it for awhile... ( umm sorry, sitting here watching the Laker game and just noticed Ron Artest changed his legal name to Metta World Peace, what a tool.) Ok anyway, what was I posting about? Oh yea! Trading down in the draft. (wow what a tool bag) ok back on topic. If you really look at our current roster and factor in the injured players coming back. It dawned on me, we really don't have any big needs outside of CB.

Here is a rundown of our current roster by position. DE position; Charles Johnson, Greg Hardy, Thomas Kaiser, Antwan Applewhite. So you can scratch DE off the list for area of need. LB; Jon Beason, Thomas Davis, Dan Connor, Jordan Senn, Jason Phillips and Omar Gaither. Another position you can scratch off the need list. DT; Andre Neblett, Jason Shirley, Frank Kearse, Ron Edwards, Sione Fua, Terrell Mcclain. We can probably grab a mid price DT like a Pat Simms in FA just to round out the core but other than that, you can also scratch DT off the need list. As far as our offense goes.. 4th in points scored, 10th in passing yds, 4th in rushing yds and 5th in total yds. Need I say more? We are definitley fine on offense and when you factor in Geoff Schwartz, Garry Williams and Jeff Otah returning, our O line will be stacked already.

The only missing piece to this puzzle is Cornerback. Outside of Chris Gamble, one could argue we have the worst DB corps in the league. When you really break down the facts, CB is a huge glaring hole on our team right now. Which Brings me to Morris Claiborne. Morris Claiborne is projected by some to be a better prospect than Patrick Peterson and aside from QB is BPA and a player like him would complete our defense and let's not forget we play the pass heavy Saints twice a year every year and if we don't find a stud CB we will continue to get abused by Brees year in and year out.

Now the million dollar question is, what do we trade to get him? Well, right now we are guaranteed to pick between 8-13. Now what happens this Sunday against the Saints is huge. If we lose ( and no I ak not advocating that, I'm just explaining the scenarios) we will have the 8th or 9th pick in the draft, if that happens then we could just forget about trading down and draft Dre Kirkpatrick. But if we win then things get intresting. We will most likely pick between 11-13 and Claiborne and Dre K will both be gone.

Me personally this is what I would want to happen. We beat the Saints on Sunday, we trade down to a top 4 pick. I would personally be willing to part ways with our 2nd and 4th rounder this year and maybe our 2nd rounder from next year's draft if it meant getting Claiborne. I mean what more could we draft this year that would be miles better than what we have now and what we will get back from injuries next season? I think it would be worth it. You discuss, what do you think Claiborne is worth?
