CSR Monday Night Football Open Thread
We've got an NFC South show down tonight that normally would have zero impact on the Panthers. But Fox has decided that if the Falcons win tonight then the Panthers vs. Saints game next Sunday has a little more meaning and they will flex it to a 4:15pm kick off. I could really care less what time we play but I would like to see the Saints have something to play for. I want to beat Drew Brees when he is trying to win.
Either way we will be talking Panthers...
This is Now a MNF Open Thread!

Falcon victory
this way the game Sunday will be sweeter beating the Saints with their starters. I want the best team on the field Sunday. If the Panthers beat them then, it will be the best feeling going into the off season

I'm cheering for the Refs. I want twenty penalties worth of production out of these guys today.
ACC Championship Member Brandon Thompson is the new Jacoby Ford. You better pick him Panthers or you will be doomed to relive the 2010 season over and over again in the Twilight Zone.
Clemson 2011 ACC Champions! Look forward to doing it again next year! :D
Isn't everyone otherwise engaged? it's been deathly quiet on here today.
I want the Falcons to win because I have on respect for the Saints and their fans.

Ha Ha!
Speaking of penalties. This is one of the main areas the Panthers need to improve next year. IMO this contributed to a few losses this year. The Panthers will finish in the top 5 in the league this year….. That ain’t good.

We have lots of areas to improve.
But we’re clearly progressing week to week.
On a U related note, that’s what Al Golden has managed to do. He’s made the Canes much more disciplined (I know you guys don’t care about the stats so I won’t go and find them). Like most sports, if you play sound fundamentally and don’t beat yourself with penalties you tend to win a lot of games. Hopefully this is something Rivera focuses on next off season.

NAILED IT!!!!
Mental mistakes kill all teams and individuals. Being a Bama fan that is what I love about Saban. He drills that into his coaches and the players.

Fully stitched and everything. I seriously love this jersey.

The number 1 could still be symbolic of him being the top draft pick, I suppose

It's more to do with jersey sales.
I don’t think the equipment manager etc will let him change considering how popular his jersey is. It’d piss off a lot of fans.

Plusy all the records that he has broken and all of the accomplishements that he has gathered...
has been with the #1 Jersey. He’s going to win ROY while playing with the #1 Jersey. So there’s still very strong symbolism in the #1.

Life is what you make it brothers....
Regardless of who wins
The Saints will be playing starters next week.
If the Falcons win, the Saints are playing for the division, if the Saints win, the Saints are playing for a first round bye, and hoping SF trips up.
Good!!!
I am glad to hear that. I forgot about SF. They may be that team that takes out GB. I don’t think GB has a good enough defence to get them their this year. Heard them say that the D have given up more yards than their O has this year. To me that is a red flag.

So either way Aints will play starters next sunday. If they lose tonight they will be playing to win the division next sunday, if they lose tonight they will still play next sunday for a bye week. I think we can beat them, especially them coming off a monday night game and us having more days to rest
Uh if the saints lose tonight then they will play to the
division, not for a bye. As the 49ers would clinch the 2nd seed due to a better conference record.

point is this
This is why our draft should have defensive players picked in the first three rounds for sure.

I think Newton requires less specialization than Brees, which is probably a good thing
The reason the Saints can’t run the ball for beans is they have to pay for phenomenal guards to make up for Brees’ height, sacrificing top OTs in the process. Brees can’t play against inside pressure worth a damn. A spread no-fullback team that can’t run off tackle is a weakness derived entirely from Brees’ physical limitations.
I would right now ,Newton ,has so much upside

is absolutely horrible. Calling Cover Two on a long third down with Graham split inside, you KNOW he’s running a streak…and Drew is a known shell beater.

With the substitutions the Saints make and how accurate Brees is, the DC has no idea how to stop it so he just goes into a default D.

Hard to stick with the run when your interior

man up and hit the guy—repeatedly. Cheap shot or two in there…problem is, the Falcon secondary is no match for the Saint receiving corps. Grimes is what? 5’2?
Life is what you make it brothers....
Is it just me or are the Falcons just a mediocre team that happens to have a winning record? I think Matt Ryan is overrated as well as Michael Turner, why should anyone be scared of the Falcons? Thats all they are to me, a meh team that has a winning record.
The Falcons are a good team
They’re just playing against the wrong guy tonight
"What do want to say to those critics now?"

Brees is the only QB in NFL history
with two 5,000 yard seasons. Amazing how his career transformed when he signed with N.O. Sean Payton is a brilliant playcaller and deserves a lot of credit.
Life is what you make it brothers....
He was very good in San Diego too, they just went with their highly drafted QB after his shoulder injury.
To be fair he was a long shot to come back from that injury – that’s the amazing thing.
"Nah, you look like Elijah Wood." - danmerqury
He was ok
IIRC he had one pro bowl caliber season. Dilfer thinks Payton’s offense is very QB friendly. I think a few guys could put up numbers in that system, maybe not to the volume of Brees(cus he’s amazingly accurate with the ball), but its there.
Life is what you make it brothers....
60% completion percentage, 3 3,300+ yard seasons. Positive TD/INT ratio.
Obviously nowhere near what he’s done in N’Awlins (or else the Dolphins would have backed the truck up), but more than respectable.

He's doing it a different way at the moment.
He’s beating teams on play calling and sheer physical talent. He’s not dissecting teams through film study just yet……which is why it’s so exciting. And why I’m desperate for Chud and Shula to stay.
"Nah, you look like Elijah Wood." - danmerqury
Yeah Cam has almost 4,000 yards and he hasn’t even scratched the surface as a QB

Yeah
They have done a hell of a job taylor making an offense suited to Cam’s talents. We need them to stick around.
Again if i was JR id go to Chud pay him HC money and ask him to stay and be apart of something special. Build a Dynasty. Ron will be more then happy to give credit where it is due. Not one Coach is responsible for our turn around. Joint Effort

i dunno if anybody said anything in here but it was cool to see Cam cheer on the Bobcats. Him and Kemba have become friends. Under Armor guys and 1st round picks. Cam said he talked to Kemba about turning Charlotte into Title town. Love the sound of that

In all honesty, I know we all think Chud will be gone next year butI just dont think its his time yet as a HC, yes he has had a great year but dont you think teams will want to see consistency and see how he does in a season with no lockout? And im sure Rivera and Hurney talked to Chud before the season started about being long term. Lets not forget how awesome Rivera was a D coordinator all those years and look how many years it took Rivera to finally land a head coaching job. I just dont see Chud leaving next season, now if next season we makethe playoffs then yes, we can start talking and speculating. But right niw my money is on Chud staying
Del Rio left after one year and he was a failure.
Some guys are just earmarked for HC roles.
"Nah, you look like Elijah Wood." - danmerqury
My only worry is
the sheer numbers of openings that could happen this year. I swear on Monday Night Countdown they did a safe or out about nearly half of the teams in the NFL. Usually there are 2 or 3 HC jobs but this year there might be 8 or 10.
Nah it's the same every year - there's about 6-8 coaches on the hot seat every season.
"Nah, you look like Elijah Wood." - danmerqury
Yeah usually 6-8 on the hot seat but
not usually 6-8 get fired. They talked about 11 or 12 on the hot seat this year. That’s more than normal.
I'd be so tempted to just cheapshot Brees out of the game.
If he’s injured the Saints would turn into the Colts.
"Nah, you look like Elijah Wood." - danmerqury
In a way
I wish he would go ahead and break the record tonight instead of breaking it against us next week.
I'm happy for Brees.
Even happier that he didn’t get it against us.

Celebrate it after the game.
Throwing for the record when you’re up this big is a little classless to be honest.

like SP told them at the half.
I just threw up.
