Panthers Week 16 Game Ball Fan Poll
We have a long list of deserving Panther players this week from their 48 - 16 beat down of the Bucs. Developing the list will be the easy part this week. Making your selection won't! Though there was lots of offense don't forget a defense that created four turnovers. So here we go:
- Rookie QB Cam Newton threw for 177 yards and 3 TDs that also helped him break the NFL single season rookie passing record held by Peyton Manning. He also ran for 65 yards including a 49 yard TD jaunt on a read option up the middle. The kid just keeps adding to his records.
- RB DeAngelo Williams ran for two scores on only 7 carries and 66 yards.
- RB Jonathan Stewart rang up 88 yards on 7 carries and added a TD on an 11 yard reception.
More options and the fan poll after the jump...
- WR Brandon LaFell snagged 3 passes including a 91 yard TD that he somehow plucked out of the air.
- LB James Anderson logged 7 tackles, a tackle for loss, a pass defensed, a fumble recovery and was essentially responsible for Jonathan Nelsons interception because he tipped the ball.
- S Jonathan Nelson is the feel good story of the day. Signed off the practice squad he snagged his first Pro INT, 7 tackles and a pass knocked down.

How can you not go for Cam here?
The guy played like a monster and showed a small glimpse of the type of production he can put out on a game-to-game basis. He can pass. He can run. He can break rookie records in the shadows while the media is focused on Tim Tebow. I’m incredibly pleased with him and I hope that he continues to improve as a player and a human being.
Well done Cam!
ACC Championship Member Brandon Thompson is the new Jacoby Ford. You better pick him Panthers or you will be doomed to relive the 2010 season over and over again in the Twilight Zone.
Clemson 2011 ACC Champions! Look forward to doing it again next year! :D
i wanna give it to cam
but i want to also give it to Double Trouble… this is their best game as a duo, rather than individual achievements.
better get 'em now!
Steve Smith
…Is the oldest player on the Panthers, and STILL ran down THREE defenders and blocked them to free LaFell.
Game Ball Winner…no discussion!

I went with Deangelo, but as a whole I wanted it to be Double Trouble. Big game from those fellows.
Nelson was pretty darn good for his first game in the NFL.
Cam Newton, when a reporter asks him who will win the Heisman Trophy on Saturday: "I'll tell you Sunday."

I went with Cam
however, if we had a defensive game ball I would give it to James Anderson. Overall, the team played extremely well. I hope the same emotion and intensity will be there in the regular season finale.
You get what you put in and people get what they deserve.

I wasn't sure there were any balls left after giving them away to the kids in the stands. : )
"I may be old but...eh, I forget the rest!"
I am giving the game ball to Jaxon.
If anyone missed the sleeper article he wrote before the game, here is a clip from it.
QB Cam Newton and WR Steve Smith are automatic starts every week. Newton ran for 3 TDs in the first meeting and Smith is 3rd in receiving yardage in the league.
RB Jonathan Stewart is a good play this week as he loves to run over the Bucs. He should get 60 to 80 yards and a TD.
TE Jeremy Shockey is on a tear as well. He is the better choice this week versus Greg Olsen. One of the two will probably score with my money on Shockey.
RB DeAngelo Williams is probably the best ‘sleeper’ pick of bunch this week. He has scored 4 TDs in the Panthers last four games. He won’t get a ton of yardage but he could score once or even twice.
While Smitth really screwed me this week, again, the rest of his predictions were pretty spot on.
STICK THE KNIFE IN AND TURN IT!!!!!
