Teams that can effect the Panthers draft position.
Panthers lose to Saints: Panthers select at either Pick 8 or Pick 9.
Panthers win at Saints. Panthers select at between 9 and 13 as determined by the Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, Arizona Cardinals, and Philadelphia Eagles.

This draft is stacked
I can’t wait to beat the Saints and sit somewhere between 10-13 and pick up Brown or Jenkins

Thats what I'm saying
Then continue the streak into next year and be 2-0 to start the season

Actually everything I've read suggests that this draft isn't stacked.
There’s a handful of elite players. Everyone else is much of a muchness.

Actually I think we beat both Bills and Chiefs in draft tie, so worst case scenario we get the 11th pick I believe. With the 11th pick I’d definitely take a WR then just grab a DT in the 2nd round. I’m liking Michael Floyd more and more and if we pick him at pick 11 or so, we would only pay him 10 million which is worth a risk. Both him or Kendall Wright would be great value there. Since Claiborne or Dre K will be gone I’d also be happy with Devon Still at that pick, he’s a beast and could anchor th middle.

Kendall wright isn't worth a top 12 pick, reaching
for him at 12 would be poor vaule. Floyd could drop farther than 12th because of 2-3 dui’s. Let me guess your looking at stats instead of watching games?

We don’t need a WR. Unless one is the overwhelming BPA at our first pick, we aren’t gonna take a WR. There’s no point. You have to realize this.

That's very unlikely for him to stop talking about
getting another Wr to be the #2( even though he claims he loves Lafell). Heck wouldn’t be surprise to see an article such as “why the panthers should sign Reggie W or Pierre G”.

Honestly it'd be hilarious to see you as a GM.
You’d change your draft board five minutes before your pick.

You are only half right, PT.
We beat them in a tie breaker…but should we win and they lose we are behind them. Should that happen and the Cardinals and Eagles lose we would be behind them also…thus Pick 13.

Even if Saints beat the Falcons, will they still have to beat us in week 17 to get a bye or home field? Or do you think they would just rest all their starters if they beat the Falcons?
by PantherTrain on Dec 25, 2011 10:07 AM EST via mobile reply actions
They will get home field for the first game no matter what.
As for home field after the first game, that is still being resolved. Green Bay and San Francisco are in a fight with them. This being the case, I don’t think they will be sitting anyone.

Here's the scenarios for next weeks game
Green Bay will lock up the #1 seed when they woop the bears tonight. San Fran will lock up #2 when they beat the Rams next week. That game will be played at the same time we’re playing the Saints. So the scenario is likely this: if the Falcon’s win Monday then the Saints will play their starters all game against us to fight for the division title. If the Saints win they lock up the division and then they can look and see the Rams are playing the 49ers and (along with everyone else) write that off as a definite 49ers victory and so realize there is no way they can get the #2 seed. That would most likely lead to them resting some guys. Or they could see all that and play for pride and momentum and play all out anyway…and hope for some Rams miracle to happen for that #2 seed.
The most likely scenario is that they beat the falcons and play maybe a quarter (if that) against us and we come away with a dominate victory. But I’m hoping the Falcon’s manage to sneak out a win on Monday so we get ourselves a great final game.

If the Falcons beat the Saints at home I will be ecstatic.
With their chippy, floppy, whiny style, I believe in ABS. Anyone But Saints!

The Rams beat the Saints earlier in the year
I’m not saying they will beat SF,but I don’t see NO pulling their starters at all, unless SF is just blowing the Rams out at the half.
NO will be playing for the chance at a first round bye.
If Carolina were playing 1/2 game back of someone and we rested our starters and missed on a first round bye because of it, I’d be beyond repulsed.
I want to see a win on Sunday, and let the chips fall where they may.

All this Cry for a WR is.......
Unfounded……We get David Gettis back next year….a real legit deep threat! I Believe Lafell and Gettis have 1 and 2 Potential. Lafell is proving that and LA is a good pick up too! I say spend our draft picks on D and BPA. If there is a WR/OL/RB/TE with high enough ceiling …….take him. But for real we need D. We need to get more “Ron Guys” around here. Personally everyone he has brought in has made an impact. I wish we wouldn’t have stuck with the same two Rookie DTs. most the season! FUA pointing the big finger at you! I think our D has been much improved with Kearse/Neblitt/Applewhite/Shirly. Personally i think, Neblitt just picked up where he left off last year.

Did you seriously just post taking a RB OR TE in the 1st?
Or were you just saying the draft in general? Because both of those positions (plus QB,K,P) would be the MOST STUPID thing to take in the 1st for us. But if it’s later in the draft then ok, especially RB if he’s got KR and PR ability and speed. I know we have Pilares for that now, but having more than 1 person who can do that reliably would be something we haven’t had in what, ages? Oh and Applewhite is an OLB/DE, not DT as you listed him.
to follow up
I was speaking draft in general. and Applewhite plays…..DE/DT/OLB/ILB along with Hardy and Big Money running some packages at DT also

We don't know how Gettis's surgery has affected his speed and skills.
And after Gettis, WR is a pretty shaky position for the Panthers.

good point
but I believe there is typically a high percentage for return from that injury! [see welker…just off the top of the head] and he was the fastest guy on the team and i believe he will be again…..and you don’t forget how to catch! and cam makes everyone better!
