Three Panther WRs in Top 6 in Catch Percentage in NFC South
Pat Y has some stats that are much to the liking of Panther fans. If you think our receiving core is Steve Smith and no one else look at who is above Smitty in catch percentage. Here’s a look at the catch percentages for the rest of the division’s receivers after Parker:
- Preston Parker: 97.2
- Colston: 97.1
- LaFell: 96.9
- Legedu Naanee, Panthers: 95.5
- Harry Douglas, Falcons: 95.0
- Steve Smith, Panthers: 94.7
- Robert Meachem, Saints: 94.6
- Lance Moore, Saints: 94.3
- Julio Jones, Falcons: 91.3
- Mike Williams, Buccaneers: 89.6
- Roddy White, Falcons: 88.5
- Arrelious Benn, Buccaneers: 85.3

has preston parker had that many receptions?
I feel like they’ve been small enough to skew the data
Interesting...
Football Outsides has a completely different list…
Smith is listed with a 61% catch rate, as does LaFell. Legedu is at 58% according to them.
These are all incompletions though, not just drops. That’s the only thing I can think of about the difference.
That's probably the percentage of targets they've caught
The numbers in the post are the catch percentage of catchable passes. Catches/(Catches+Drops)
At least that’s what I’m assuming.
Yeah, that's my best guess too
But that seems somewhat skewed. I can remember early in the year where Cam would throw to Naanee and a perfectly catchable pass would go incomplete for whatever reason.
LaClutch!
That is all.
Newton for '11 ROY! (Update: Etch it in stone)
Walker for '11 ROY!
Biyombo for DPOY!
I think the fact that Smith is on that list and the number 1
shows just how much of a beast he is.
I am a proud supporter of troll hunting.
Just shows the improvement of Legatron catching the football
Early in the season he had problems with the dropsies, now he is a fairly reliable target.

This is why I said the other day on the CSR radio show, in the chat section,
that Smith is not the reason mostly for Cam’s good stats. Newton spreads the ball around and is somewhat accurate most times. Newton has probably had as many bad throws as his receivers have had bad misses, but considering the stats neither are really holding him down very much.
STICK THE KNIFE IN AND TURN IT!!!!!
erm...
After Steve Smith, maybe… He still accounts for almost a third of Newton’s passing yards. Once you get past him though, everyone’s pretty much in the same boat.
I'm happy for Legatron. Dude has really steadied out and become a reliable target.

he has certainly turned it around the past few weeks.

I have to say, Legs has really come along, I'm happy for him.
I’m glad our FO didn’t jump the gun like every panther fan including myself did when it came to him.

Just imagine if Legatron had never had the "hands of stone" syndrome for the first few weeks.
Recently, the guy’s been coming down with pretty much every ball that’s remotely capable of being caught.
