Being bored, sitting here browsing on my ipad, I realized it's been ages since we heard any real updates on Jon Beason. So I decided to type in 'Jon Beason' in the Google search bar to see if any recent news or updates have been posted about Jon Beason's status as of late, to my surprise I came across this article that was just posted about 4 hours ago and aside from news about our beloved Jon Beason there is also some other juicy tid bits in the article, while not anything earth shattering still interesting nonetheless. First a update on Beason...
Beason said that his rehab is well ahead of schedule, he says without a doubt "I will have a helmet on and ready to go come April when mini camps open." This bit of news made me all warm and fuzzy on the inside. He says He is looking forward to April when the team's 1st mini camp opens up. Beason also says he is now running in the pool which is a big step in the recovery process. BTW Beason said all this today which is also great. Beason also said he has been very impressed with a lot of our guys now on D and says the more they play the better it will be for next year, also says with all the injured guys coming back "the future looks bright." Now onto the juicy stuff Rivera had to say.

Again this isn't any earth shattering news here BUT going forward into next season I think Hurney did say some interesting things. For starters he says the defense has really showed some real improvement over the last few weeks. He says of course you always look to add some pieces but from what he has seen the last few weeks he has been really encouraged. He also emphasizes that next season a lot of our injured, core defensive players will be back which will be a huge help. He also makes light of the fact that in the last 3 of 4 games they have held opponents to fewer than 20 points.
Hurney also feels "we have a great core group intact and feels they will make strides next year." Hurney also goes on to say despite having the 5th ranked offense he still would like to get more weapons for Cam and "you always want to make stronger what is already strong."
As I have mentioned, I know this is not set in stone and none of this is earth shattering news. But it does tell me that just because we have a 5th ranked offense and 23rd ranked defense, that doesn't mean Hurney feels we are set at offense. My personal take away from this? That come draft time, I think if Hurney feels there is a WR good enough that he could quite possibly go WR if he sees fit in order to give Cam more weapons. Personally I would be fine with this. If you think about it our D has really improved the last few weeks. Beason, Thomas Davis and Ron Edwards will be back also consider the fact we did after all bring in 2 defensive tackles in last year's draft. Also keep in mind that Hurney did show quite a bit of interest in AJ Green. Bottom line, I think Hurney would pull the trigger on a WR if he felt strongly enough about one. Now me personally I would go CB, DT or LT in the draft. But if we get a Blackmon, Jeffery, D Jones or Kendall Wright.. My feelings wouldn't be hurt one bit.
