As we all may or may not know, Nike is taking over uniform duty for the NFL next year. I know there's been considerable discussion about it already, but I thought I'd provide a little bit of insight.
While this image has been thrown around on this blog a couple times, I'm not so sure these are actually what the new uniforms are going to look like.
I recently started working at Champ's Sporting Goods at Triangle Town Center in Raleigh. I was talking to my manager, Mark, about how few Cam Newton jerseys there were on the racks and commented on how they must be flying off the racks. He told me, however, that since Nike was taking over next year that they weren't ordering many jerseys until the new ones came out. I mentioned how sick it would be if Nike were to splash more electric blue in the Panthers' jerseys to spice them up a little bit. He informed me that he had gotten a look at the new jerseys and that the Panthers new uniforms would indeed have more electric blue in them but he also told me something very interesting. Mark told me that he thought that the Panthers were going to start wearing electric blue helmets next year as well. I think that sounds pretty dope. Overall I'm pretty pumped about the Nike taking over next year and am excited to see what they do with all the other teams, particularly the classic teams. Obviously, Nike has a lot more leeway changing the jerseys of the Panthers, Jaguars, Ravens, Titans etc. than they do the Packers, Browns, Giants, Bears and so on.
Thought I'd shed a little light on the situation and wondered what you guys thought about the unis, the helmets in particular?
