ALL HAIL TEBOW!!!!

May his name be praised! The almighty one has returned to us in human form! Jesus Christ has finally found a host to come to visit among us mere mortals. May the sinful be washed away in holy light, the righteous among us following Tebow to the promised land! Where the Clemson Tigers win every game, every year. And where the Panthers always make it to the Super Bowl!

At this point, with the Broncos making all these maddening wins, the game thread on the Broncos blog might as well be renamed "Going to Church."

For those that care, here is the Tim Tebow highlight reel.

At around 2:20 you get to see Tim Tebow praying to God. It’s a must see, these guys are having as much fun as we are watching Tebow take to the stars.

Say what you may...

But the kid has won the last 5 games. He has energised his O and D…not to mention the fans. Do not look down on someone’s faith and devotion to the God he worships. And please do not take God’s name in vain.
I wish the rest of NFL and its players (or for that matter…the rest of America) would have the guts to stand up for what they believe instead of being WIMPS.

You seem to be reading a little too much into this.

Rev you’re going to have to let go of the Tebow and God references…too many people get their dander up over it. Don;t want to debate religion here at all

Oh alright. I'll cut it out.

You’ve got to admit though. This kind of success is inspiring. I’m happy that a good man like Tim Tebow can have the success he works so hard for. Four wins in a row and he’s throwing under 50% and pulling off tough wins in the clutch? Call me crazy, but I think somebody up there has his back.

So, what happens when Denver loses?

Is the “somebody up there” mad at Tebow and Denver?

That kind of question is unfair! You're asking me a rhetorical question that hasn't happened yet!

We’ll see what happens. I just think this kind of thing is as cool as cool can get.

@Jkp So the Broncos aren't allowed to lose a game anymore because Tebow is starting?

5-1 this year like I said below. Four game winning streak. That’s impressive by anyone’s standards. And if you really believe that bringing up Tebow’s losses after the team has gone 3-10 and have already given up the season is any proof of him stinking at the next level, you’re measuring by an awful crooked scale. If I want to crack some jokes about his recent success, I can. Lighten yourself up. He’s done good in Denver.

by Revshawn on Nov 28, 2011 6:35 PM EST up reply actions

That's not my point.

I have no problems with Tebow or his success thus far. I actually am pulling for the guy because I was pro-Tebow in the 2010 draft. I don’t think he is a failure and that wasn’t my point.

I was simply doubting that religion and god has been the main factor causing Tebow’s and Denver’s success. I was pointing out the losses to provide reason for doubt.

by jkp1516 on Nov 28, 2011 8:21 PM EST up reply actions

It's a funny joke and Tim Tebow brings it on himself.

When the guy drops down on his knees and bows his head while the other team is heading towards a game winning field goal and then talks about it in his post-game press conference, it’s funny. When the Broncos win when Tim Tebow is making under 50% of his passes, it’s abnormal and therefore funny.

His outspoken Christian piety both makes him very honorable and also opens up to an entire host of jokes. If I want to pretend that the eastern wind blows whenever the Broncos face a game ending field goal from the other team, let me do it. It’s all in good fun.

The only thing I worry about is what happens if they’re in a dome.

Well...

I didn’t know that, so I’m sorry.

by jkp1516 on Nov 28, 2011 8:22 PM EST up reply actions

Really don't want to get into religion...

That’s just opening Pandora’s box. But I’d have to argue that Tebow would be winning for other reasons, tangible reasons. Namely Denver’s suddenly stout defense. Or the success of Denver’s running game. Or the lack of turnovers. Just a thought.

by jkp1516 on Nov 28, 2011 1:43 PM EST up reply actions

That all is true! But just when did that defense suddenly turn stout? When did the running game suddenly start being successful? When did the other players stop coughing the ball up?

It all comes back to Kyle Orton getting the can and Tim Tebow becoming the centerpiece of that offense at QB. For some strange reason, suddenly the entire team are playing like champions and winning games despite all logic and common sense. That includes Tebow. I’m loving it!

by Revshawn on Nov 28, 2011 3:29 PM EST up reply actions

I don't doubt the guy is a strong leader...

I think that’s pretty evident. However, I do doubt that religion is tied into it and a supernatural force is affecting the Broncos.

by jkp1516 on Nov 28, 2011 3:31 PM EST up reply actions

It was a joke! Can I have any fun with a guy that makes improbable, supposedly impossible wins happen?

Let me ride my banwagon please. The only stat I see that makes sense is this: Tebow is 5-1 for the time he has been starting. In the end, that’s what has Denver ((and me)) so excited.

I wasn't looking down on it at all! Please don't misunderstand!

I’m proud of Tebow for the success he has brought to this team. And I’m proud that he points to all the right people when he celebrates his success. I hope the Broncos defy all odds and slaps everyone in the face and end up in the Super Bowl. This thread was mostly a jab at everyone saying that Tebow couldn’t be a success in the NFL. Now that he’s here, you can’t stop him.

So I guess Fox can win without a QB that fits his scheme

or is it divine intervention? No I think it is simply a QB who plays best under pressure, a QB like Newton that has that running element as well… and a much better defense and o-line

It actually looks familiar..

21st in scoring, 25th in yards, 31st in passing, and 1st in rushing. What team am I talking about? A John Fox team. Great running the ball, average at everything else.

Looking at the games Tebow has started and the Bronco’s won, their defense is only giving up an average of 15 points per game. Tebow is throwing for an average of 120 yards with a 43% completion rate. What gives? He’s averaging 71 yards per game rushing, has a combined 8 touchdowns, and three running backs each averaging 4+ yards per carry.

As soon as teams figure out this offense that they’re running, Tebow Time is over. The only team they’ve beat thus far (with Tebow starting) that has a rush defense in the top half of the league is Miami. The worst part is, I don’t even see this ending until next season because the rest of their schedule is pretty soft. Minnesota is the only team I see beating them. That means an entire off season of Tebow worship. Yuck.

People say

that as soon as teams figure out the option offense Tebow will be neutralized. Well how long has it been and they still can’t figure it out? The option isn’t that hard to neutralize, just play disciplined, gap control football and you can stop it. High school teams do it every week. Tebow may not be a conventional QB, but the results speak for themselves. 5-1, and his team believes in him even if the rest of the world doesn’t. It may not be divine intervention, but Tebow’s got something others don’t.

Yes I'm a dude.

Actually, Fox was very high on Tebow in the draft...

If Denver hadn’t snatched him up in the late 1st and some other teams passed, I wouldn’t have been surprised if Foxy traded up for him and made him a Carolina Panther rather than JC.

by jkp1516 on Nov 28, 2011 1:37 PM EST up reply actions

Yep

Fox was at every on of Tebow’s workouts that season. I remember reading that he really liked his tenacity. I do not for a second think we would’ve passed on him if he was there when we picked in the 2nd round that year.

Make fun of him all you want, but Tebow is a winner, “Simple and Plain”. I don’t think he’s as good as Newton, by a LONG shot, but you can’t deny his determination to do whatever it takes to win a game. Tebow really reminds me of Jake Delhomme. Not in his abilities, I think delhomme was a much better passer, but in his character, his tenacity, and his knack for pulling out a clutch win.

I, for one, am happy that Fox has found some success as the Broncos’ coach. I always liked him, and I always thought he was a great Xs and Os coach. He’s proving it right now.

I don't understand what happened to Denver

What’s winning the game for the Broncos is the defense, which would seem to be unaffected by Tebow.

Without Tebow:
21 points per game
28 points allowed per game

With Tebow:
19.3 points per game
20 points allowed per game

There schedule has been much softer. And maybe something clicked during the bye week, particularly on defense, and had nothing to do with Tebow. The offense is a little worse and the defense has been much better. I have a hard time giving Tebow credit for that.

by JDeLong42 on Nov 28, 2011 5:10 PM EST reply actions

i believe it's the time of possession

the broncos hold on to the ball longer, so it gives defense much needed time to rest up and make plays. really, it goes both ways imo.. tebow benefits from the defense and the defense benefits from tebow’s style of play as well. anytime you take away valuable time off opponent’s clock, you keep opponent’s defense longer on the field and the offense off the field. kind of like when the ’phin were running on wildcats and option plays a few years back.

but to be fair

‘phins didnt last after a year or two of gimmick offens, so tebow will eventually have to make throws in the pocket. this off season will benefit him greatly if the broncos know that he’s their guy.
