CSR Panthers vs. Lions Pre-Game Open Thread

It's game day Panther fans and our beloved Panthers are on the road today to play the Lions. It's a Cat Fight!

Declared out for the game is Panthers TE Jeremy Shockey. We saw last week how not having Shockey can impact our 3rd down completion percentage. I hope the offense is better prepared this week as QB Cam Newton certainly won't have  any more time to throw this week than he did against the Titans.

LB Jason Phillips (calf) is also out for the game. Omar Gaither will start at WLB again this week. Dan Conner is questionable but expected to start in the middle. Rookie CB Brandon Hogan remains questionable meaning most likely his first action of the season will continue to be on hold.

Lions RB Jahvid Best has also been ruled out presumably giving recently signed RB Kevin Smith the start. Maurice Morris is also likely to get some carries as a platoon is predicted. You can see the rest of the Lions injury report here but most are back-ups beyond QB Matt Stafford (questionable) and Best.

So what are your last minute thoughts on this one Panther fans? I have yet to give a prediction and I think I'm going to keep it that way. I haven't like this game since the preseason and have no reason to feel any better about it this week. Maybe they will be more focused after getting waxed last week by the Titans.

This is Now an Open Thread!

I brought my new Newton jersey to don while watching the stream online. I was too embarrassed last week to even take it out of the bag. This week, no holds barred.

It's not the squash, it's something I did last year that hasn't healed properly.

I’ve had a physio look me over and they’ve said it’s just a muscle strain, but it’s lingering and annoying.

See I wish it was something as obvious as that.

I hurt it playing ‘soccer’ last year. I didn’t stop playing the game and it’s never really stopped me working out – I’m just constantly aware something is wrong and I’m not willing to push it.

Speaking of football, watching that blackurn v wigan game yesterday was hilarious. How has kean or martinez still got a job. That goal was a bit cheeky, but had to love robo’s heroics at the end. You, wigan and us look in some much trouble right now :(

I only know the score (and Martinez bitching about controversial goals).

Even though I’ve got a season ticket at Ewood Park I barely watch Rovers anymore. It’s not the same club I grew up supporting.

Pederson took a corner to himself which is where the controversy is. Robinson won a penalty in the ninth minute of stoppage time by getting kicked in the head. Busted him open! I haven’t been able to watch wolves since I moved up north. Kinda glad because we have stunk up everywhere we’ve played this season.

You still enjoy watching football then?

The game has died for me. It’s full of cheating mercenaries. The straw that broke the camels back for me was the Phil Jones transfer.

A 19 year old lad, self proclaimed Rovers fan (his dad still has a season ticket) brought up through the Academy since the age of 9 leaving after less than 1 season in the first team because “These types of opportunities don’t come along often” is sickening. Literally what is the point if you’re not a Man United/City/Chelsea/Liverpool fan?

Union is where teams just kick the ball to each other and occasionally jump into a pile for a nice fondle.

They slipped something in their Gatorade. I’m telling ya.

Those people at the local Clemson SBNation blog isn’t making it any better either. But at the end of the day you’ve got to look at where we are. We’re 9-2 and we’ve locked up a spot in the ACC Championship. We’ve got the Gamecocks to fight this week and they’re not going to show us any mercy. Dabo Swinney has got to prepare this team to win the game not fall on their face.

I am really starting to question our medical staff now.

Otah was supposed to miss 1 or 2 weeks last year and missed the entire season. Then came back this season not in shape to play. He had swelling constantly, and I chalked that up to his weight cause a lot of people said that. Now Hogan has had like 3 extra weeks, compared to normal healing time, on the pup list to heal and he can’t play because of swelling. Add those up to all the injuries we have and something is wrong.

I just hope it’s not another blow out loss. And I stick by my word, if we win today I will go one full month without talking about the draft.

You can't just do that anyway?

I echo this sentiment...
We lose ill be upset but i just want to have SOME enjoyment in the game.

The team looked so flat and lacking in heart last week (with the exception of a few players). I want more to be excited about than than one or two good tackles and a batted-down ball here-and-there.

Yep. I'm a female who religiously follows a football blog.

I want to see a game where Cam Newton throws a touchdown with 4 seconds left on the clock to win it.

I hate seeing him looking like a abused puppy at the end of the game all the time during his press conferences.

"Once again the trousers of evil are yanked down by the mocking hands of justice!"-Revshawn

There was a story long ago about a man who saved the world. A legendary receiver with speed as fast as light itself. But he has passed on. His journey is one with the Raiders. But now, a new star has risen in the heart of the South. His veins bleeds orange. His legs are thick, his movement swift, and his hands are as large as the heart in his chest. His name is Sammy Watkins. And together with Sherlock Boyd, they will solve many mysteries together.

Website for the Game

Sorry to ask this, but I’m in South Florida and can’t get to a bar to watch the game. What is the website that streams the game? Thanks.

BTW anyone else take notice

how Tony Fiametta has sparked the Cowboys running game since he got there? WHY did we not keep him again, always seemed like a Hooveresque player since we drafted him? He was probably another underutilized young player under foxy

Jaxon I wanted to thank you for opening this thread, (last week also),

before noon. I can’t read here while the game is on because I watch it on a stream and you all talk about plays before I see them. I love having people to talk to about the game for more than an hour, (noon to 1). So thanks man.

But my expectations thus far have been grounded. Last week hurt, but it’s old news. Let’s have a good game!

Yes white jersies! I don’t like black jersies at all, yes I realize I’m wearing one in my profile pic but that was a D Will jersey I bought from a friend when he was getting divorced and he never wore it and it still had the tags.

When I wear a jersey it’s always my white authentic Cam one. Black jersies are just so 90s to me. Love white jersies.

by PantherTrain on Nov 20, 2011 12:55 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Yea

I’d like to get rid if the white and just wear the blue ones away and black at home

Honestly I feel pretty good about this game

The Lions are REALLY sleeping on us. all I see is them talking about how this should be an easy win, that they have the lowly Panthers at home and how we are a team that they should beat no questions asked.

IT’S A TRAP!
