Sir Pour
Welcome back Panthers fans! It's finally football and beer time once again, so why don't we get straight to it?
This week will be all about execution and following the game plan to a tee, so I feel this beer is aptly named.
SKA Modus Hoperandi India Pale Ale
via flyaddicts.com
The brewery: SKA Brewing Company in Colorado plaster their website with cartoon iconography straight out of a 1930's detective novel. They have a crusade against big conglomeration when it comes to beer and for them this means doing things outside the norm; like brewing a huge IPA in a can.
The brew: Modus Hoperandi is a big, strong, bitter IPA... just the way I like it. This is my favorite style executed in an impeccable manor. SKA's discription of the beer is rather tongue-in-cheek
It's Old Man Bitter
A mix of citrus and pine that will remind you of the time you went on a vision quest with your Native American cousin and you woke up in a pine grove full of grapefruit trees.
Making fun of brew snobs like myself is part of their fun, but this is a fresh, bright IPA with a bitter bite that lets you know it's packed of hops. At 6.8% ABV this is a great brew to sit back and have 4-6 of comfortably.
How it relates to the game: The beer follows the modus hoperandi, the Panthers need to follow their modus operandi... it's as simple as that. Execute what they do well and they should walk away with a W this week.
Where to buy: Available in the beer section of many supermarkets across the Carolinas, or you can find it as boutique wine stores.
Price point: $7-$9 per six-pack
