Sorry to say I got last week's game pretty close, having picked the young Panthers to fall to the Bears 24-23. I haven't enjoyed picking against the good guys the past few weeks vs. Green Bay and at Chicago. Well, that's about to change!
My reason for picking the Bears to win last week was an intangible: Young teams usually lose on the road against good teams. My reason for picking the Panthers to win this week is also an intangible:
THE PANTHERS ARE AN ANGRY FOOTBALL TEAM.
They are angry because they have lost 3 games that they could have, perhaps should have won. They have looked themselves in the mirror after losing to the Packers and Bears and are now beginning to realize: "Hey, we can play with anybody!" Our quarterback's hatred for losing is spreading like wildfire through the Panthers locker room. Losing is no longer acceptable. There are no moral victories. This team is mad, and this team is going to win Sunday's game in front of a LOUD Panthers home crowd primarily for that reason.
As far as X's and O's, look for another big day from the Panthers' passing game. Yes, I do predict a 400 yard game from SuperCam in this game against a suspect Saints secondary. Look for a couple of picks from the Panthers secondary as well. And a pass rush that will make Drew Brees antsy in the pocket.
My prediction?? If Jeremy Shockey plays half the snaps, I'm predicting:
Panthers 45 Saints 31.
If not, take ten off the good guys' total for a 35-31 squeaker.
That’s how I see it. What about you Panthers fans? How do you see this Sunday’s game? You make the call,
Let’s hear it!
