Poll - "Are You Ready For Some Football" ESPN? ESPN Dumps Hank Williams, JR

Stay connected for news and updates

In a last minute move ESPN pulled Hank Williams, Jr's "Are You Ready For Some Football" opening song, after around 20 years, as a result of a comment Williams made about the President over the weekend.

I hate to make a political refrence, because this is a football site, and it should be kept free of political comment, but unfortunately that's the key part of this story. Here's what I geathered from ProFootballTalk's story about what happened.

When speeking to FOX News Channel's Brian Kilmeade, Williams said that House Speaker John Boeher shouldn't have played golf with President Obama, saying "That would be like Hitler playing golf with Netanyahu (Isreal's PM), .. In the shape this country's in." Kilmeade said that he didn't understand the analogy.

ESPN issued this statement in explaination of their actions, "While Hank Williams, Jr. is not an ESPN employee, we recogize that he is closely linked to our company through the open to Monday Night Football, ... We are extremely disappointed with his comments, and as a result we have decided to pull the open from tonight's telecast." ProfootballTalk.com adds that this move may be perminate.

Here's the link (I'm not sure why the usual http:// isn't included).

Now, what do you think about this (the poll won't have all the desired responses, and you might like more than 1 answer, so you may want to post your thoughts as well)?
