No Respect? Jared Allen Unimpressed with Newton

Is he kidding? Cam's "trying" to be a pocket passer? I think 290 passing yards & 3 TD PASSES qualify him as already there. And forget about his passer rating. I mean come on, it was a measly 117.6. Here are some other facts for this dimwit. So far thru the season, Cam has 2,393 passing yards, a 60.6 completion percentage with 11 passing touchdowns.

Sarcasm, blatant trolling or flawed thinking?
Ponder’s team, the Vikings, did win the game largely on the legs of AP with some help from Ponder’s arm, decent defense and good special teams play. Cam almost won it mostly on his arm with some help from his legs and very little support from running backs or special teams and the defense wilted late. Yes, Cam’s fumbles hurt the cause but blindside hits are not all on the QB. Do you seriously think that there is any other rookie QB that we couldn’t trade Cam for? Not that we would ever consider that, but you can bet that all the coaches, GMs and teammates talking up their young QBs would trip over each other to trade for Cam.

If we’re comparing individual QBs at their position, Cam outplayed Ponder.
Newton: 22/35, 290 yds, 3 TDs
Ponder: 18/28, 236 yds, 1 TD
The elements that allowed the Vikings to win the game wasn’t so much Ponder’s play as the fact that Adrian Peterson was matched up against a really terrible Panthers’ defense (both in stopping the run AND in LB’er coverage against RBs and TEs on dump-off passes)…and the fact that the Vikings had a much better game plan on defense with the personnel to execute it without incurring the penalties that afflicted the Panthers so much. I’d also give Minnesota the edge on special teams.
Doesn’t mean Ponder isn’t a good or decent QB. He’s doing quite well, actually. But you don’t take the measure of a QB just based on wins. You can take the measure of team on that. And that’s why this is a team game.

you're reading way too much into it
My take on it was that he’s saying that Cam wants to be a Pocket passer as opposed to a Scrambler. Nothing more. Explaining why he stayed there, showing poise, and took those blindside sacks. A scrambler would have started the play bootlegging to one side or the other.
I took it as a partial compliment.

They’re talent depleted as it is and the new AD is all about performance in classrooms, not on the football field (which is fucking madness if you ask me – the football team brings in a ton of money and publicity to the school).
Take away scholarships and they’ll be at the bottom of the division for the next five years.

I think our “clown” missed out on the fact that Ponder now has only 1 win to Newton’s two.
Furthermore, Newton is breaking records despite a totaly weak supporting cast on defense (to some degree) due to injury and age.
However, Dignifying this poor unstable person only leads him to reconfirm his delusional thought process.

Long time lurker, first time poster here.
Love the Panthers, grew up in North Carolina. I can’t believe how much one player has re-energized the game for me. Cam Netwon makes the Panthers infinitely watchable even when they’re losing. It’s getting ready to be a fun era for Panthers fans.
Last thing I wanted to say is, the board moderators need to work that banhammer a little quicker. IP bans FTW. If I wanted to read “CAM SUCKZORS AND ALSO THE BIGEST LOSERS OF ALL TIME ROOKIE RECORD” I would go to CNN or Yahoo’s message board. Keep intelligent posters, delete idiots.

I think some people here are a little too sensitive. I didn’t take this as Allen showing Cam “no respect”. I’m a huge Cam fan but just because an opposing DE didn’t kiss his arse and say he was the greatest player he’s ever seen doesn’t mean he disrespecting the guy. Just my take but I didn’t read anything negative in that quote.
