T.O TO CAROLINA!!!! Yes!!!

T.O is a dynamic receiver. Even at the ripe old age of 37 soon to be 38, I think he can still dominate!!

Star-divide

Terrell Owens is looking for a home. I say we welcome him to Carolina. We signed Keyshawn, we can just as sure give TO a chance. We REALLY need someone to compliment Smith! Lafell, o.k, he has some talent. He has potential. Legadudu, or whatever his name I can do without. Yes we got our tightends Olsen and Shockey, but we need another wide receiver. TO isn't looking for too much and if we want to win now, why not?

Yes, I know about past troubles with qb's and locker rooms, however, anyone can change. I think he is as humle as he says, and he and #89 would bring a lot of defenses headaches. Stop the safe picks, lets take a risk!! I want T.O!!!

What do you guys think?

very true

T.O. could help a team get over the hump and get to the Superbowl, but I don’t see the long-term benefit of him taking PT away from LaFell. He’s a solid downfield blocker and I think he’s still a solid receiver. You saw how dominant he was in Cincy before he got hurt last year. I just don’t see how he helps us in the long run if we can’t keep him around for 4-5 years. And we’re not gonna give him a contract longer than 1 year…after which he would turn 40.

I really wish people would stop with this T.O. nonsense.

First, he’s a cancer in the locker room. This is non what a young team without one of it’s biggest leaders (Beast) needs. Secondly, the guy is about to be 38, so he would do nothing for us past this season and maybe next. We are better off giving more playing time to our young receivers like LaFells and Edwards to see if they are worth keeping around. Thirdly, who know what he even has left on that surgically repaired knee? 38 year olds don’t heal as well as 24 year olds do.

by Ancev on Oct 27, 2011 2:12 PM EDT reply actions

I agree we don't need him

But I haven’t seen anything to say he’s a locker room cancer in several years, and I guarantee you he’s in incredible shape. I wouldn’t even worry about his injury. I just want to see LaFell get more reps, and that won’t happen with him on the team.

by usana_gaines on Oct 27, 2011 2:15 PM EDT up reply actions

Really?

what about Cincinnati last year? Crying for the ball and still running his mouth. Palmer couldnt stand him. The only reason he didnt get as much media hype is because Ocho was also there.
We have a very young team and i dont think people realize how much damage TO could do. Young players look up to the other ones as role models. If our young players look up to TO what do you think they will be like in a few years? TO is the LAST this that Cam needs to be around

by pcroadrage on Oct 27, 2011 2:40 PM EDT up reply actions

not saying we should sign him but....

your making stuff up with T.O. and Palmer…Palmer is one of the reasons the Bengals signed T.O. they worked out in the offseason and him and T.O. clicked…without him that offense was ass last season. He had almost a 1,000 yards and didn’t play the full 16 games

It was said

Earlier this week that the T.O. locker room issues didn’t get the press it normally does because it was a Bengals team nobody payed attention to. He was still an issue, not to the extent that he was in PHI but there were problems.

He looked good in his tryout the other day. He’s in great physical shape and we just need another year or two out of him. So I’m saying if we want to win right now, let’s sign him. In carolina we could use the help. In the past he had problems, but he’s been to the bills and the bengals and they both said he hasn’t had any behavorial issues.

We don't want to win right now...

We want to build a winning program that will win in 2012 and beyond.

TO is a terrible fit for this team.

If he still had it, the Panthers would have shown up for his workout, but they didn’t, just like the other 31 teams in the league.

Our offense isn’t the problem. We’re 5th in the league in offense. It’s our defense that’s losing games.

I agree with you wholeheartedly... I DISAGREE WITH YOU!

TO is a terrible fit for this team. No arguments here. However, I’d like you to ask the players in our locker room if they want to win right now.

I said this before the season started and I’ll say it again… the energy surrounding this team and the amount of talent we’ve brought together (particularly on offense), this is not a team in “rebuilding mode”. Not in the true sense anyway where it takes 2-3 years to turn a program around. This is a team that is hellbent on getting wins right now.

It’s not a WIN OR BUST season… but that doesn’t mean that it’s not a WIN NOW mentality in that locker room.

I fail to see the point

We have the 5th ranked offense in the league and adding a 38 year old receiver coming off major reconstructive surgery, who will have to learn a new system and get in “football” shape isn’t going to move the needle. It would also take valuable reps away from young guys like Lafell and even Gettis should he stay next year. If he could play LB or DT we might have to consider it but I can’t see the reason to subject our locker room to a me guy just to add a name.

There’s nothing that TO has to offer that benefits this team, unless he suddenly learned out to play DT or OLB in the last two days.

It just won't happen, for the same reason we didn't sign either of the Williams brothers to play DT

The goal of this year is to develop our young players and give them experience. Signing a veteran like T.O. just takes away reps from our younger guys like Lafell. It can be rough, but this year isn’t to compete for a playoff berth, but to give our young guys the experience that is necessary to become solid players in the league.

We're not making the playoffs

I feel optimistic about this season and i love how well we are playing (for the most part) but at 5-2 i dont think it would be a shocker to say we miss the playoffs this year. TO would only help this season, even with him i dont see up winning 8 of our next 9 games. So he wouldnt serve us any purpose. The attitude issues he would cause and the PT taken away from other players is more damaging than the good he would bring. If we were 4-3 and on the verge of a playoff run i would consider it (I said consider!) but right now he doesnt do us any good.

No thanks..

While this works well in Madden (LaFell had a 200 yd / 2 TD game the week after I signed T.O.) I highly doubt it would end well in real life. Lets let someone else take T.O. and give our own receivers a chance, once Naanee gets out of the way.

I think it speaks volumes

That even the teams that didn’t have to travel very far didn’t bother to show up. The fact is he’s done. He’s 38, coming off a SERIOUS injury, and he’s a head case. The only reason the AFL bothered to call is to sell tickets. The potential (or lack there of) just isn’t worth the risk. He may look like he’s healthy but he’s not in football shape, doesn’t know the offense, and what happens the first time someone blows up his legs?

i personally don't consider t.o as a locker room cancer

especially at this stage in time. actually, i’d rather get t.o from years back that would bring both baggage and skill to the team (at least he could play then). the thing about the current t.o imo is that he brings nothing at this point in time. he just didn’t seem ready for nfl coming back from his injury.

just saying… i get what you’re saying so i won’t put the do-not-want dog out there, but our pass offense is quite good and bringing t.o in would break the chemistry out on the field… not so much the locker room stuff.

Wow, another Legedu Naanee hater.

Seriously, how can you think T.O. is an upgrade over anyone we currently have? Naanee has done plenty in recent weeks to show he’s worth keeping around as a receiver on this team. And like many others have already said, no thanks to bringing in a 38-year-old guy who can’t accept that his playing days may be over. T.O. just needs to move on with his life before he ends up doing even more damage to his body than he already has. I’d much rather see the Panthers evaluate the talent we have, namely being Legedu Naanee, Brandon LaFell, and David Gettis (when he returns next year from injury). If we even do need another receiver, we should go after one in the draft, not bring in a stop gap player unless we’re surely going to the SuperBowl that season. I think every current Panthers player on the roster wants to win, and so do the coaches…so this assumption that they don’t is a little ridiculous. Ask Cam what he thinks, and any other player for that matter, and then tell me if they wanna win. T.O. won’t solve the problems we currently have.
