It was reported this morning that the Broncos are also interested in trading WR Eddie Royal, as well as Brandon Lloyd, and both have requested a trade. Both Lloyd and Royal are in the final year of their contracts, and Royal's 2011 salary is $600,000. Royal went to Virginia Tech, and is from Alexandria Virginia (outside DC). That along with his having played his first and best season for Redskins HC Mike Shanahan while with the Broncos, probably makes them the most likely landing spot for Royal. ProFootballTalk.com reports that the Broncos are only asking for a 7th round pick for Royal (that's also reported to be the best offer they have received for Lloyd, and they say they will keep Lloyd if they can't get more than that). Royal did have hip surgery during the off season, and it's probably still bothering him a bit.
The 25 year old Royal (5-10, 185, 4.39-40, 1.46-10) was the Broncos 2nd round pick in 2008, and though he's not the big WR that RR and Chud seem to favor, he's around the same size as Steve Smith. Royal's don't have the high yards per catch average of Smith, but that's because the Broncos have played royal in the slot, where the YPC average is usually around 10-11 yards per catch.
Here are rddie Royal's numbers with the Broncos:
2008: 15 games, 15 starts, 91 catches, 980 yards, 10.8 YPC, 5 TD's, 11 runs, 109 yards, 9.9 YPC
2009: 14 games, 12 starts, 37 catches, 345 yards, 9.3 YPC, 0 TD's, 1 run, 1 yard
2010: 16 games, 10 starts, 59 catches, 627 yards, 10.6 YPC, 3 TD's, 6 runs, 61 yards, 10.2 YPC
2011: 2 games, 2 starts, 4 catches, 51 yards, 12.8 YPC, 0 TD's
