DT/DE Jared Crick Out For The Season

Nebraska DT/DE Jared Crick (6-5, 285, 4.82-40) is out for the rest of the season, with a torn pectoral muscle. It's just my guess, but he may not be fully healthy by the NFL Combine. Crick was probably the drafts best inside pass rusher, with 9 1/2 sacks each of the last 2 years, but only had 1 sack and 22 tackles this season.

This sent me back to nfldraftscout.com and walterfootball.com to see what's left at DT. UNC's DE/DT Quinton Coples (6-6, 285, 4.76-40) may be the only other very good inside pass rusher. All the other DT's run around a 5.00-40 or higher, and really aren't pass rushers. Here are some of the drafts best DT's at this point.

Other DT's Who Can Pass Rush (Maybe):

J. R. Sweezy (6-5, 293, 4.95-40) of NC St., is out with a broken foot for at least another month. He's probably too small for an NFL DT, and will have to play DE. Nfldraftscout.com ranks him as the 20th best DT (only 22 were drafted this year), and the #265 player overall.

Eddie Brown (6-0, 310, 4.79-40) of Texas A & M, ranked as the 44th best DT, and 592nd best player overall. That 4.79-40, at 310 pounds, and poor ranking just don't seem to add up, I bet he times over 5.0 in the 40.

NT's:

Alameda Ta'amu (6-3, 337, 5.22-40) of Washington, ranked 2nd DT, and 24 overall by nfldraftscout.com, #1 NT by walterfootball.com.

Dontari Powe (6-5, 350, 5.36-40) of Memphis, ranked as the 6th best DT, and 75th best player overall by nfldraftscout.com, a 4th or 5th round pick by walterfootball.com

Nicolas Jean-Baptiste (6-2, 335, 5.06-40) of Baylor, 27th ranked DT, and 429th overall by nfldraftscout.com

Hebron Fangupo (6-1, 331, 5.08-40) of BYU, 31st ranked DT, and 427th overall by nfldraftscout.com

D'Angelo McCray (6-3, 335, 5.22-40) of Memphis, 49th ranked DT, and 689th overall by nfldraftscout.com

T. J. Barnes (6-7, 333, 5.35-40) of Georgia Tech, the 4th rated NT, and 7th round pick (or UDFA) by walterfootball.com

DT's:

Brandon Thompson (6-2, 310, 5.04-40) of Clemson, top ranked DT, and 15th overall by nfldraftscout.com, but the 5th best DT, a likely 2nd or 3rd round pick by walterfootball.com

Jerel Worthy (6-3, 310, 5.02-40) of Michigan St. 4th rated DT, 30th overall by nfldraftscout.com, but his draft stock has been sliding all season.

Kheeston Randall (6-5, 295, 4.96-40) of Texas, 4th ranked DT, and a 2nd round pick by walterfootball.com. He hasn't played up to expectations this season, with only 4 tackles in the first 3 games.

Devon Still (6-4, 310, 5.06-40) of Penn St., 5th rated DT, 54th overall by nfldraftscout.com

Travian Robertson (6-4, 295, 4.82-40 walterfootball.com) (6-4, 303, 5.08-40 nfldraftscout.com) of South Carolina, the 22nd ranked DT, and 303rd overall by nfldraftscout.com, but a 4th round pick by walterfootball.com. He's playing with 3 1st or 2nd round picks on the D-Line, and not doing a lot.

Rather than some players stepping up among the DT's, it's seems most are either sliding back, or getting injured.
