I could only find this quote from the Detroit Press (huh?). http://www.freep.com/article/20111010/SPORTS01/110100400/1049/rss14
Here's what Roman Harper had to say about the blatant late hit on Steve Smith in yesterday's game:
"If you're going to score, go score, but a guy is not going to try and just walk it in on us like that," Harper said. "You're going to have to pay for it as you get past the goal line."
Is it just me, or are these the words of a complete jerk? Players on both sides of the ball showboat all the time, but according to Harper a late hit at full speed is ok. It's not like Harper was 2 or 3 feet out of reach. In fact he was no where close, so he had more than enough time (and room) to change direction to keep from hitting an unaware Smith. I don't care who the team is, cheap shots like that are uncalled for. Personally, I think there should be a harsher penalty than 15 yd penalty "on the ensuing kickoff" Wow, A garunteed touchback. Way to hurt the offending team. I'm thinking maybe it should a 15 yard penalty from the spot KR is tackled at or if it's a touchback the team starts on the 10 instead of the 20. Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions?
