Many Panther fans, including myself, would like to see the Panthers trade down from the #1 pick in the draft. I thought it might be interesting to see what the commonly accrued value of the #1 pick would be in regards to the teams in the #2 through #8 positions. The approximate trade values in draft picks are shown after the jump.
For the following teams to move up to #1 with draft picks this would be the approximate costs:
Bills: Picks #3 (1st rd) and #34 (2nd rd) plus 3rd rd pick (2012)
Bengals: Picks #4 (1st rd) and #35 (2nd rd) plus 2nd rd pick (2012) and swap 3rd for 4th rd pick (2012)
Cardinals: Picks #5 (1st rd) and #38 (2nd rd) plus 2nd and 3rd picks (2012)
Browns: Picks #6 (1st rd) and #37 (2nd rd) plus swap 1st rd for 2nd rd pick (2012)
49ers: Picks #7 (1st rd) and # 45 (2nd rd) plus 1st round pick (2012)
Titans: Picks #8 (1st rd) and #39 (2nd rd) plus 1st and 4th rd picks (2012)
These values show why it is so hard to find a trading partner out of the first pick. Hopefully someone will explode during the Combine and will provide some interest in working a trade. What say ye?
