Per Mike Cranston via Twitter the Panthers have hired Scott Turner to that mysterious position of 'quality control coach'. Turner is most notable because he is the son of San Diego Chargers head coach Norv Turner.
Scott Turner is just 29 years old and from one Panthers to another he has been with the University of Pittsburgh as an offensive assistant and WR coach.
The current modus operandi of hiring guys with NFL ties continues as now both QC coaches (Mills and Turner) have NFL ties through their fathers. Really though, this isn't an extremely important position but Turner has worked well with Pittsbugh players LeSean McCoy and worked with 1,000 yard WR Jonathan Baldwin who appears to be a last 1st or early 2nd round pick in the 2011 draft.
