At Least We Arent the Browns - Panthers Draft Thoughts
I just read an article posted by Bill Voth via Twitter about the Mark Sanchez and Braylon Edwards trades involving the Browns and the Jets. And it got me thinking about the draft...
Here is the article. You should read it first because it makes me feel good about the Panthers and Hurney's picks. Browns
After reading this I started to think about maybe it is not such a good idea to trade down. Who knows who we could end up with. As the article points out second round picks are like gold, but you can NOT swing and miss on them. We don't currently have any second round picks, but should we trade out of the second round who are we going to go after? Someone that is hyped by scouts? Someone who is hyped by the media? Or will we actually do our due diligence and find our diamond in the rough. To me, it makes sense to find that player that will help with what we need not just BPA. I feel like the Pats and Steelers do this well even though I hate both teams. If we stay with the top pick I am OK with Fairley, Green, Bowers whoever grades out the best in the combine. Moose on WFNZ today was talking about how the bowl game and combine helped him become a second rounder. Something to watch for with Marvin Austin maybe in the East West Shrine Bowl. But I digress.
The other thing that this article made me think about is hopefully John Fox will be our Eric Mangini. Apparently Mangini has made some horrible decisions and as I've said before I respect what John Fox has done for us, but much like Jake I was ready for him to go. Therefore, I don't wish such things on him, but if he could hook us up by trading picks/players back to us that would be great. IMO.

AJ Green, but trade down into the second round if possible
If we could trade down, I’d very happily take Dareus/Fairley/Jones/Peterson/Kerrigan/Bowers with the first and then take Rudolph/Austin/Baldwin/Dowling. That would be an ideal situation for me. However, if no trade down appears worth trading for, then I’d take AJ Green in a heartbeat because of his talent, ceiling, and need.
Im Torn
I feel like AJ Green could be a beast. But same with Fairley. I voted Fairley and not because its the popular thing right now. I am a Clemson fan, but we don’t need a DE. All Offense and DT are important. If no one can throw the ball to Green then whats the point.
God no.

Sadly, anyone who is a USC fan knew what you meant, lol.
"I think that fits right along with what my vision is, and that is to help build this team into a Super Bowl caliber team, win, and sustain that for a period of time." ~Ron Rivera
I voted trade down if possible
I know it is very unlikely that this will happen, but no one really screams “take me first overall.”
As for the article: This is very reason you have to separate the duties of GM and HC. Very few can pull it off with a lot of success.
Fairley!
Our defensive line would be a nightmare for opposing O-lines. Gotta resign CJ, of course.
Currently researching for a way to trade rosterbation threads to another team's blog site while receiving maximum value in return.
Trade Down
It would be a dream if we could trade down with the 49ers. They are very interested in a QB. Specially if Blaine Gabbert starts lighting up the draft boards between now and the combines. Draft Robert Quinn if available or Julio Jones as the WR. With the 2nd round pick Austin if available or trade up (using our #3 comp pick for Peppers) and get Austin. Austin is going to prove to be the best 2nd round pick (if he stays that low after the combine)
You can't trade comp picks

You Think?
That was kind of what I was going with for the do we draft someone because of the media hype. But I don’t really know much about him except the video I’ve seen here on this website which i found decent, but unimpressive.

I always like drafting BPA
If Gabbert becomes that, or puts himself extremely close (Ex. Bradford and Suh). I say we pull the trigger and take him.
Go Panthers
To add to the theme: At least we didn't release a pro bowler...
Adam Schefter
Didn’t realize this. One word: Wow. RT @richardjustice: Cut by the Texans! RT Green Bay CB Tramon Williams added to NFC Pro Bowl team.
Rules and Regulations of the Game: 89, Bottom Line
other solutions, +1 Green
our DLine will be more of a terror if we sign Cofield than if we drafted Fairley… if we can grab another DT in the 3rd, or find another in FA, we are set..
Draft Green.. lock up our receiving corp for the next 5-7 years with real threats.. right now, we still need a #1.. Smitty in the slot, Gettis at #2, sub in LaFell.. and also put all 4 out on the field..
we need a dynamic offense, we fans are too used to the Foxball mentality..
If Ron Rivera were to mail a blitz without postage it would still get there.
