I found a nice read by a Miami beat writer discussing Standford QB Andrew Luck. This headline is more tongue-in-cheek in that Luck to point has attempted to shun the media spotlight:
Heck, if his face pops up on SportsCenter, do what teammates have seen Luck do: Change the channel.
"I'd rather not watch myself," Luck said.
So even though Luck comes from the bright lights of the West Coast his personality would probably be a good fit for the low key Carolinas. Here's some more interesting tidbits about Luck that make we like him even more:
Luck, valedictorian of his high school in Houston, holds a grade-point average of about 3.5, so when Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh and assistant head coach Greg Roman put together their offense, dumbing it down wasn't an option.
"How many plays do we have on our wristband?" Roman asked Luck during a news conference. Answer: about 350.
But here's the really juicy part from this post, concerning Luck's decision-making process for whether to enter the draft...after the jump
On whether what HC Jim Harbaugh does will affect his decision:
"I don't think it'll be tied in too much, but obviously it will be a factor," Luck said of Harbaugh's decision.
Harbaugh: "I'm going to just tell him, 'Just do what's best for your family. Do what's best for yourself.' Andrew's got a great, supportive family. They're very smart and they will figure out what's best for Andrew."
Jake Locker should serve as a great example of what could go wrong in a year's time...I'm pretty sold this guy will enter the draft. If Harbaugh goes to Michigan than it's guaranteed.
More good quotes from the post, Harbaugh discusses his ability to see Luck's talent before setting foot on campus:
"Pretty smart," Harbaugh said, smiling. "It's not hard to see. It's hard to miss, really."
That's pretty provacative...yet leave it to John Elway for the money quote:
He's the complete package," John Elway told The San Francisco Chronicle.
So how would you feel upon hearing the news that Jim Harbaugh has flown into Charlotte this coming Friday to spend the weekend with Big Cat and Hurney?
