Panthers Zeroing in on Rivera?

At first it seemed it was Perry Fewell (to me at least) to get the first 2nd interview, but now its official the Panthers want to talk to Chargers DC Ron Rivera a second time:

While a second interview has been requested, no time has been set for the meeting. Owner Jerry Richardson said last week that finalists would be brought back to him after his football and business-side decision-makers canvassed the early candidates. It's worth noting that when John Fox was hired in 2002, he was the only candidate to get a second interview.

I find it hard to argue with the recent results of his efforts. The Chargers D was one of the best with very little marque talent. Could a minority hiring be in the cards for Jerry Richardson? If this guy is trying to make over his image hiring a Latino would dispel some of the perceptions. Truthfully though if Rivera does get the job I don't think his ethnic background really had much to do with it.

Being a former player has to give him a nice check in the box for JR. Rivera was known as a special teams beast and pretty good LB in his days with the Bears. I think that translated to a degree to his coaching style.

So I have to believe the CSR community would be happy with this hire?
