Darrelle Revis and Jets reach terms for 4 year deal in principal
Deal is reportedly 7 years, $42 million ($32 mil guaranteed) with an early temination option after 4 years.
Important to us only because of Richard Marshall. Obviously Marshall will warrant nowhere near Revis money but you better believe Marshall's agent Drew Rosenhaus will use Revis' contract to leverage the Panthers.

The Jets are ignorant.
Theyre throwing money at their players. Rewarding Revis for sitting out all of practice and all of the preseason games. Giving him like 35 million dollars more than he would have made, in effect voiding his penalties for sitting out . The NFL needs to make a new penalty rule for players that sit out. Make them have to miss regular season games for every day or 2 that they sit out. Now the Jets have 2 of the highest paid players for their position on their team, wonder how their salary cap will look when it returns.
Definitely a win now philosophy. And I don't think they can, personally.
Salary cap hell is looming for them after this season, fo sho.
Where there’s a will… I want to be in it.
My money is on the bet that there will be a cap.
I dont think Richardson would skimp this season if there isnt going to be any cap & he would know whats happening in the negotiations.
+1
There’s no way he skimps if there’s any chance of no cap. He’s not a tightwad owner. He will spend money to win if it’s justifiable to do so. He’s setting the table for future years of cap space to sign our core players (D-Will, Stewie, Kalil, etc.) so we can dominate the league for the next 5-10 years while other teams are deciding which players to cut because they suddenly can’t get under the cap.
