Around SBN: Newcastle Battle Injury Woes Ahead of Tottenham

Per Darin Gantt via Twitter the Carolina Panthers have signed Trent Guy to the team's practice squad.

Great move by the Panthers who ultimately kept two guys they liked in Charly Martin and Guy.

Sweet

Wish he made the roster.

Side note:

I’ve been clear that I don’t think Houshmanzadeh is going to be a Panther, but what is the guy chopped liver?

I can’t believe teams are passing on him. St Louis said they’re not interested (their #1 Donnie Avery is done for the year), the Vikings said they’re not interested (we know they have WR issues) I can’t believe teams aren’t interested in him now. Since he’s been cut why not grab him for cheap?

some speculate there's something else to it.....

he was a pretty sought after FA just last season and signed a nice size contract, he couldn’t have fallen off that much that quick…i dunno.

911 yards is better than most of the guys out there, better than T.O

I agree, and did it with a banged up Hasselbeck

and Seneca Wallace.

Interest will pick up after week 1

When the team does not have to guarantee his contract. Same with L. Coles

Cantwell picked up by Baltimore:

Great

So, Baltimore knows our playbook.

Do we play them?

And the Jets did the same thing by getting Patrick Turner.. but the fins are in their division

Considering we didn't gameplan

and that they got a pretty good look at Cantwell when we played them, I’d say that’s probably not the top factor.

Ready for 2010 football already!!!

we'll just have to beat them the old fashioned way

hard nosed defense and run the ball down their throat.

OMG Who Cares ?

You guys worry so much about such below averages players moving on. What makes you think Cantwell knows any part of our playbook. He used all of his timeouts in what 30secs against the Steelers. I doubt he will remember any of it. Ravens well I guess anyone is better than Troy Smith.

He's bee with the team for two preseason's now...

He obviously knows the playbook. It’s part of the NFL.

I’m sure we still have Tim Duckworth on the roster for his ability, not at all for his training camp with the Saints.

They would rather have him...

Than Troy Smith?

Kind of my thinking

Cantwell is a broke man’s version of Joe Flacco.

Really happy for Trent

My wife and I really enjoyed talking to him and seeing him play at TC. Only hope he has a chance to make the team later this year or the next.

If God came down on Christmas Day
I know exactly what He'd say
He'd say "Oi!" to the punks
and "Oi!" to the skins
but "Oi!" to the world and everybody wins.
