I'm Just A Woman But........

I am just a woman but , I am tired of the crap and I have to speak my piece. You wait all off season for football to come back around and then crap, I could have had a V8. Aren't you tired of that same feeling, we almost, could of, should of, could of been, but we didn't? Boycott losing huh? We see, more after the jump

Star-divide

I was excited, I was pumped, I was ready for some FOOOTBAAALLL!!! Oh wow, here we go, we lose the first several games last year. Since we went to the Super bowl I have found myself saying, maybe this year, and then that year comes and goes. Maybe this year, another year comes and goes. Enough already, I am tired of hoping and wishing that this is the year. I hope we have a consistent team this year. I had some worries about the defense, but they look hungry. I think we will play closer to lights out this year. I am still a little worried(A LOT of worried) about the offense though.

I don't think we need a Brett Favre or a D. Brees, we just need a QB who can thread the ball when need be, give us some lasers down the field, PROTECT the ball, and help convert 3rd downs, do not over throw or under throw, HAND IT OFF and we will be cooking with grease. I think we have the best RB'S in the league(sat aside the fact I am a die-hard fan) D'lo and Stew are bad. No one could really do anything with the run last year, I think folk sleep on us. They have D'lo ranked 8th and Stew 16th are you serious?  People keep asking me how will we fair this year? I tell them we could be that team, it just depends on how hungry they are. I am seeing fire out of the defense, if we can catch fire on the offfensive side and special teams, I SMELL A SB COMING ON.. IF U SMELLL....So what do you think are we going some where this year? Or  is it going to be the same ol, same ol? I am happy with Meeks, but Davidson and Fox needs to go. Sorry, what have you done for me lately? They have not got it done. In some ways, I hope we suck, maybe we can get someone else in here that will play with house money at times and someone with a creative mind, who can mix it up and utlilize the talent we have on the field. My 4 yd old little girl can cook up better play calling on offense. Are you tired? I'm tired. Santa Claus, I will give up all my hair, clothes, and shoes, if I could have a Super Bowl bound team. I want intensity, I want them to be physical and I need them to be CONSISTENT!!  We beat the heck out of a team 1 week, or several weeks straight and then the next week, I am going who is this out on the field? My grandma is more energetic going to the bathroom than this lethargic team.  I am just a woman, but these are my thoughts, whats yours?

Fox is the most maligned head coach in the NFL.

Is ‘this year’ going to be the Panthers’ year? Maybe, maybe not. We would all love for 2010 to be that magic season where the Panthers put everything together and we go to the promised land, but this off-season wasn’t about building for this year, it was about correcting past roster and salary mistakes so ‘this year’ can become every year.

I definitely understand your frustration, and we can apply whatever metaphors to the offense and defense we wish, but ultimately since this franchise has been in existence only 30 teams have been to a Superbowl, 15 teams have won.

In those 15 years we’ve been to the playoffs 4 times and the Superbowl once. We should be thankful for what we have.

I don’t really know what the ‘same ole, same ole’ is, but judging from what John Fox has done in the past we should be better than 8-8, and if you believe in this ‘up one year, down the next’ theory then we should be on pace for a good year.

However, this is the last season we should be drawing lines in the sand or saying this ‘has to be our year’ as I’ve heard from so many others. The Panthers made a conscious decision to save money so they could resign our young talent, bring a cadre of rookies to make this team faster and more athletic while trimming the fat and cutting dead weight.

Is this year ‘our year’? Who knows? But I can promise you one thing, you want the Panthers to be physical, you want them to be intense? I haven’t seen a John Fox led Panthers team lacking those qualities.

Welcome to CSR. Thank you for the contribution and we hope you’ll stick around.

hmmmm.....

Thanks James for the welcome. Ok so "same ole, same ole "is I can predict the play calling, there is no mystery what we are going to do on the offensive side. We never too often mix it up. There is nothing creative about what we do. OPEN up the play book. Too many times over the YEARS I have the same feeling, )did they just call a draw play on 3rd and long wow, thanks for creation). It is the same all the time, they held on to Jake for too long, last year could have surely been the year if Jake would have stopped winning the games for the other teams with his throwing the ball to ghost panther players down field and getting intercepted. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and hoping for a different response. Pay me 60k a year and I could have got out there and over threw, under threw, fumbled took a sack, I could have thrown the ball to the other teams too. Good riddance, glad he is gone.(Jake) I think we need some fresh brains, we need new ideals and a new philosophy . John Fox turned this team around, but at the same time I think his time here has ran its course. There just isn’t any excitement any more about John Fox. ALMOST does not count. Now the point of my post was in general and over all. This is an NFL team, I do not care who we have that makes up the team. I want production on the field that makes me feel satisfied for spending money on a seat at boa stadium. If a team is hungry, REALLY hungry rather it’s rebuilding or whatever the experiment, then it can still be a good year. To be honest, I HOPE that we go to the SB but deep in my heart, we are probably not going. I really do not have any expectations this year, It is what it is. So i am not saying this year has to be the year, I am saying I HOPE so, but probably not. At times they are physical and intense, other times over the years, I wonder, who is this team? For Fox this needs to be the year, for me I just want something to scream about, to jump up and down about. I want to be able to rub my 89 jersey along with our wins this year in my co-workers face. Most of my co-workers are Giant and Cowboy fans, I want them to eat crow.(YEAH)!!! So cheers to some FOOOTTTBBALLLL. To be, or not to be? That is the question.. Tootles

oh by the way..

James I do not think we should be happy for losing. If we go to the playoffs I want to win, if we get to the SB I wanna win. ALMOST doesn’t count. More than that , I am tired of people being happy with the glass half full. We should accept nothing less than a WIN. No one is perfect, but I like to WIN, I like to compete. Yes I am happy we went to the playoffs, yes I am happy we went to the SB, but we didnt win, so I am not thankful to loose.. I expect the best as a parent out of my child, and I expect the best out of my team who has proven that we have the talent, WE CAN PLAY WITH THE BEST OF THEM, for some reason we still fall short. We need a make-over, PERIOD. So we will see how the year turns out. Yes this is just for entertainment, its not the same as being a parent, but I take my football serious, some times too serious. We went, we saw, but we didn’t conquer, for that I can feel a measure of a smile, but anything other than a win is UNACCEPTABLE!!!! Just my 2 cents.Smooches!!!

So if I understand you correctly...

you want to win, right? Cool. Me, too.

by Rick Bates on Sep 5, 2010 4:08 PM EDT up reply actions

Trust me, I want to win too

But still there aren’t many teams who have sustained an overall record over .500 for the last 7 years, luckily the Panthers are one of them (0.563). Parity in the NFL makes it near impossible to have dynastic reigns, and other than the New England Patriots we haven’t seen any team come close.

I (like many fans) am still haunted by our Superbowl loss. For all my love of John Kasay and my respect for what he’s done as a Panther he cost us a Superbowl. I don’t blame kickers for missing field goals under pressure, but if he kicked that kickoff in bounds the Patriots would have had 4 seconds and been on their own 37… out of field goal range. We would have the rings now, we would have the trophy now.

Right now everyone in the league has the same record. I like you hope this is out year, but if it isn’t I’m not sure salting the earth is the right approach because our soil is still plenty pretty salty.

Thank you for saying that.

All my friends think I’m a jerk when I talk about Kasay and missing the field in our Super Bowl. Now I don’t feel so alone. Lol.

by The Kackalack Kid on Sep 5, 2010 4:18 PM EDT up reply actions

I feel terrible saying it, but it's true

A kicker misses a FG I can justify it by saying ‘well, it’s the offense/defense’s fault for letting the game get so close’ but when you can’t keep a kickoff inside the 160 ft width of a field then it’s 100% on you.

But, I don’t hold it against him… because to do that would spit in the face of the tens of times he’s won a game for us in the clutch.

it is our year

there are a couple things i look at. we dominated the vikings last year when they actually came to play, despite talk of meaningless games. favre, peterson and jared allen don’t take games off. we’re more talented than last year. i say that in considering injuries as well. look at our LB corps…we didn’t have TD for more of last year, and we still don’t have him. we played a lot without otah and gross. d-will was hurt and smitty even missed a game. also, we had the talent to beat the saints. we were winning 20-6 at halftime. i look at last year, and i am convinces that we are more talented and healthier. throw in a 65% passer who protects the ball, and we will be hard to beat. another note is our defense. we created 30 turnovers in the last 10 games last year. this preseason, our starters have recorded sacks against all first team offenses. our defense will be the strength of the team this year. that’s right, teams will be more concerned with our defense than our running game and smitty. we’re going to dominate this year…13-3…Superbowl Champs!!!

Talent to beat the Saints--

—backups. Not the Saints starters. Their back ups.

by aceofsween on Sep 5, 2010 4:45 AM EDT up reply actions

THE STARTERS

We had the talent last year to beat their starters. We dominated them in the first half. We made several critical mental errors in the second half of that game. we had three blown coverages and some costly turnovers and penalties in the second half. that doesn’t mean we were clearly superior to them, but we had the talent. we are more talented this year. at the end of the day, the saints beat us, won the division and the whole nine. this year, we can do the same.

by usana_gaines on Sep 5, 2010 5:56 AM EDT up reply actions

Do I think we CAN win it all this year? Of course. We have loads of talented, hungry

youngsters. We’ve got a defensive coordinator that is a bona fide genius. We got the steal of the draft in one Greg Hardy. And, we have two talented young QBs.
Do I think we WILL win it all this year? Odds are against it. I think preseason was an exercise in getting the young guys on the field and figuring out who has the ability to play in this league. I think the coaches did a good job of figuring it out. But, we are so very young. Ultimately though, you gotta be lucky as well as good to win it all. I think we have a chance to be good enough, given the talent level. It’s the lucky part you can’t predict.
I expect this team to be contenders to make the playoffs, not out of it by week 11. I hope they make noise in the playoffs. I dream they will win the Superbowl.

Welcome to the blog JUSTAWOMAN!

I’m cracking up at your analogies!. Is your daughter still available for play calling duties? We might need her help by game 5!

Yes the offense has been bad but I still have hope things will fall in place…in a couple games. Our schedule isn’t too bad to start. The Giants D has some issues, then the Bucs at home; no problem there. If we can start 2-2 we’ll be fine. The middle of the schedule is easier and then come the final qtr when Fox teams play best we will have the hardest part

We will be just fine, I believe.

I think it’s serious overconfidence for any NFL team to think they are going to win the Super Bowl before the regular season even starts. With the level of talent that exists in the sport, combined with the natural parity that exists due to scheduling and alignment, and the way injuries play a part, I think the best you can do is set your team up with enough talent to make a playoff run. We are weak in certain areas, but I think our coaching staff will do very well in accentuating our positives. We are still capable of running an offense and a defense that our coaching staff is comfortable with, and while we’ll be learning on the job so to speak, I think we have enough to get a wild-card spot. And I hope Foxball sticks around here in Carolina for a long, long time.

And welcome to CSR.

I've been waiting for the day..

That I seen a female poster on here, simply because there were none that I am aware of. It took exactly one year to the day but you have proven that female fans do exist. Welcome to CSR, I look forward to reading your future posts/comments. As for this one, I can agree with everything except getting rid of Fox. I love Fox, I just hate Davidson. The sooner he gets ran out of town the better, in my opinion.

Welcome Just a woman.does that mean we can call you J.A.W. ? hey I promise when I call you a woman it will not be sexist, however if you think your getting away with some of your anti panther statments because your a women, you are so mistaken :) Panthers Rule, and dont forget it.We have a great team and great coaches, and for that matter great ownership!

by Panther Eddie on Sep 6, 2010 4:27 AM EDT reply actions

rolling my eyes at this one....

J.A.W are you trying to say I talk too much, or too much mouth? Bc a lot of men say women talk too much. If you are that sucks for you, because I am about to J.A.W right now. Thanks for the welcome, on the other hand though lets get it straight. I am a die- hard carolina panthers fan. I love the panthers, they are my home team got to love them. BUT, if there is something that I do not like about them or if I have a negative or a positive to say I am going to speak my piece. Never give me a pass bc I am a woman, bc I can play with the big boys, thats apparent. Part of being an adult is that we have different opinions, I have mine you have yours. Yes I think Fox has ran his course, yes I think Davidson should go, yes I think people get stuck in being happy with almost or making excuses. I am not sugar coating anything, I am going to tell it how I feel it. If that makes me come off as anti panther, oh well I do not give a hot ham sandwhich about how it may come across but I am going to say what I feel. That doesn’t mean that I don’t love my cats, it just means they are not getting a pass because they are MY team. So yes, the Panthers rule, but expect some negative or “anti” panther comments as you call them in the future. I pull no punches, we have a great team, but they are an even GREATER team with the right brains, ideals, and creativity behind them. So we will see how it all turns out. I am riding and dying with them either way. I can dish it and I can take it, please have no mercy on me for the sake of me having ovaries. So Panther Eddie we will agree to be disagreeable, I say tomato, you say tomato(matoe) get it.

Once again welcome aboard.Yeah I must admit JAW did kinda make me laugh, but it was your assessment of our franchise(mine and Yours) and it’s seeming failure because we havent won the Superbowl yet, that irritated me as a Eagles fan in my youth I can assure you we are Blessed to have what we do,in as little time as we do.Remember if/when we win 1 superbowl we will have more rings then most teams(including the Eagles) Glad to have a tough woman on board.Gabby Rules…I still like Jaw,lol
