I was reviewing some game tape of Everette Brown from last season, and one thing stuck out in particular:
The guy has some power.
The game that really caught my eye was the second Tampa game (in Charlotte). Donald Penn, who has just signed a fat contract to remain with the Bucs, was manning the left tackle spot all game. Everette Brown, playing the RDE spot, was constantly matching up with him during the game. For some reason (his hand?), Pep was missing quite a few snaps so Brown had to play a great deal on 1st and 2nd down. Brown more than held his own in one-on-one situations with Penn.
Penn is listed at 305, but is clearly closer to 350. Brown was constantly bull-rushing him on pass downs, and was turning Penn's shoulders on most of the run plays.
I don't have a link to video, or anything cool to show you, sorry. But I thought, (assuming you can take my word for it) it would be a good idea to share my observations with you guys.
Granted, Everette will have to hone and refine his skills, and do this as quickly as possible, but at some point in his career, this guy is going to be an impact player.
The most exciting part of my evaluation of Brown was the fact that he was going full bore every second he was on the field. That alone should be a positive change, and potentially a treat to watch.
